Hello I was wondering if I was allowed to show my Black Otter Mini Rex? It doesn't show at the top of the Color Differences.

Wow thanks for all the info, it was truly great. Let me tell you, I'm 11 years old and I really want a bunny. I wrote a 70 page notebook of nothing but what to do for a bunny I love them oh so much, and well my parents said most likely no! But I have faith and I promised that I'll pay for most of that stuff. But anyways I want to get it at the state fair coming up in April 9-13th 2008. I can't wait, I hope my parents say yes. I love them but I love animals. Why start when I'm old when I can start when I'm young and well you know, have a fresh start. But well I don't know, I hope they say yes. I just dont think that they understand what I need for my sake. Well anyways, I really thank you guys out there for listening, I appreciate it! = p

ha ha,
Hannah
Kirscbaum!

Haha, I am 14 and at the beginning of 8th grade (I am in 9th grade now). I researched a rabbit for 2 years. I kept asking, and asking. Now I just got a mini rex and he is SO cute! I wrote my parents a very long essay and I told them why I want one, how I will take care of him/her, and also, I pulled the shelter card. I told them by getting me a rabbit off of craigslist.com or a shelter, they would be saving a life. That really brought it home! Haha, it still took a while after that, but I am glad I finally got one. My advice? Get one from your local shelter, or one off of craigslist. Those ones need homes. Rabbits get dumped off in a corner and killed because the owners "got tired of it". By getting one at a fair, you buy one from a breeder. When you buy from a breeder, you give that breeder reason to make more bunnies. And that just contributes to the overpopulation problem with bunnies.

Yes they can because their babies are born very small. Mini rexes are just a bit smaller and rabbits breed like rabbits. When you breed get a nesting box for them to be in. The doe will pluck out her hair to keep the babies warm. They will not be pure breeds so you can't show them.

Only if they been bred with a rex, but they still wouldn't be pure rex they would be a mix between the two.

I have a Rex Rabbit, she is beautiful pure white. I love her and wanting her to stay for a while! I am trying to potty train her but I don't know how. How can I? What is the best way?

It's so worth it if you can litter train your rabbit. She will be a much better pet and more fun if she can have free run of the house. A large inexpensive cat litter box is excellent to use. I use recycled paper pellet cat litter for my bunny, it's inexpensive and works well. Put a layer of pellets to cover the bottom of the box. It does not need to be a deep layer, just enough to cover the bottom of the box. Fill one end of the box with lots of timothy hay. Fill with hay as needed throughout the day, it will make her happy and keep her using the box as a potty. Keep the litter box in the same place all of the time. Completely empty and rinse it out once a day. If you are young, see if you can empty the used litter into your parents garden, it's really good stuff for the garden. Your bunny will get the idea, jump in the box, enjoy hay and eliminate at the same time. It will take time, but she needs consistency. She needs to know where to go to "do her business". Good luck!

I use cat litter tray with sawdust in. Put some used sawdust from hutch in tray and bunny will get the idea cos they usually wee in same corner.

Get a bunny litter box ( clip in if it dumps it). Put kitty litter in it and some of it's poop. They like to sit in them so clean it every day. My bunny Buttons is so litter trained when she is out she uses the cats litter box.

    Hi,
I have a mini rex and a netherland dwarf they were litter trained in a day. All I did was put a litter box in there with cat litter, set the bunny in there and thats how it got trained. Cat litter is the best because it is most absorbent. Good Luck!

Hi, i am a 13 year old owner of 3 male mini rexs' , Snowy, Rusty, and King Pheolix II, Pheolix has a bald spot on the bottom of his neck and it is wet, I saw him chewing at it a bit, maybe that's why it's wet, but I'm not sure and I'm just wondering if it's a medical thing to be concerned about or if it's just that it's almost summer and he is shedding or...? Anything else. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE respond to this, I love him with all my heart and my dad is not concerned about it so I want answers to prove he should or shouldn't be.

No you cannot you do not want to do that.
  • Emily - 2010-05-26
You can but they would not be pure breeds. They would make great pets though. You could not ever show them. When you breed bring the doe into the bucks cage. Most people leave them in over night. Just make sure to check on them during the night to check how they are doing. You have to buy a nesting box and the doe will pluck her fur a put it in the box to keep the babies warm. I breed rabbit all the time they will be fine.
