I've been wanting a Dwarf Hotot really badly but I'm having a hard time finding breeders in Washington. I don't need a show rabbit just pet quality is good. Please help, I'm desperate!
Does anyone know a breeder?

Did you check out Craigslist in Kalispell? There is a breeder here who sells them for about 25, but we are in Montana. Loads of cute ones to choose from.

I really love them and think they are cute but after he passes I'm going to be attached so much I don't know if I'll get another bunny, but I want to so bad.

I'm going to start raising rabbits a mix between mini rex and a dwarf. The male is black and white and the female is black. Also the female is the dwarf and the male is the mini rex. I'm going to be selling them on June 1 2012 there going to be born on may 1 and I'm going to be selling them for 25 dollars each. I think most of the kits are going to be black and white or black and maybe a few that are white. I will put my phone number on when they are big enough to go to their new home and putting an add when they are ready to go!

Appreciating the dedication you put into your site and in depth imairnftoon you provide. It's great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn't the same out of date rehashed imairnftoon. Fantastic read! I've bookmarked your site and I'm including your RSS feeds to my Google account.

Noises he is not familar with will usually cause them to 'freeze in place' or run for the hills.  Yes, he will run away if he is not in some sort of enclosure.  He might get scared, might see another rabbit - anything - a new dog in the yard and he will run.  He wants to live and if he is outside, he needs a safe area there also.

I am looking for a Himalayan rabbit to add to our family and finding it very difficult to locate a breeder. My daughter and I had one we loved very much but he unexpectedly and suddenly passed away after a surgery last year. If anyone knows a breeder in the Eastern, PA (Reading, Harrisburg, Allentown and thereabouts) or even within 2- 2 1/2 hours from the area please let me know! My email is Cristalsmama@gmail.com, thank you.

You may have to take her to the vet. But the first thing I would do is talk to the people you got them from. Tell them the condition and ask them what they know.
  • jazy - 2012-01-23
    Thank you very much.....
  • Charlie Roche - 2012-01-24
Sounds like she might have gotten her foot caught on some wire or underneath something and that pulled out her nail and possibly splayed leg. I think you would know if the leg is broken as she wouldn't be moving it but if splayed, it should be wrapped as will be sore. If she isn't just fine in two days - vet is definitely called for unless you know how to rap it and for sure can tell, not broken.
  • jazy - 2012-01-24
Well I just got her and so I don't know how her leg got hurt but I can rap it. Thank you for your help........

I have a bunny too and his nail came off as well. I was very worried at first but then a friend told me she has a rabbit and said if it starts bleeding, your supposed to stuff it with corn starch! And, the leg problem, you probually want to get a vet to look at that. Hope i could help :)
  • Brandy Shukaitis - 2012-08-10
I think it would be a good idea to go to the vet if it looks any worse in a day or 2. I would think the nail could get better on its own unless infected. But if it is show quality it can not be showed.

Start locally and see if any breeders near you ---- or any breeders that know who is breeding the netherland dwarf. Look in the papers classifieds, talk to a pet store, look on Craigs list. Look up Netherland dwarf breeders on the Internet. You just have to get started and you will find one.
  • Nikki Maraman - 2012-04-10
Hello Hailey, I do however we are located in Macon Georgia and I am not sure what shipping would cost. My bunnies have always been local pick up so I'm a little skittish about shipping a baby bunny.
  • Matt Geiger - 2012-04-29
I have recently come across some netherland dwarf bunnies that would cost under your requested $$

There isn't 'substantiated scientific information' yet that bunnies see in color but it is believed they do.  They see black, white, shapes and studies show they can distinguish blue and green.  So I'd say they see in color.  Based on my bunnies, I say they see in color.  They had favorite colors for their toys and balls.  Yes, they loved TV and music.  I have no idea what they are actually undetanding or seeing when they watch tv and maybe just the movement and sound but it seems to mystify them.

As long as they are used as a treat and not the main staple of his diet - it's OK.  Teaspoon but not a bowl.

I am thinking of getting a neverland dwarf rabbit. Is it a good idea to get one or should I get two? Are they likely to get on together if I get two females. Will they still be friendley if I have two. Would appreciate advice on this.
Best regards.

Sure, two females get along just fine. Two males usually do not unless they are neutered. By getting two, they would have someone to be with you can't be there and they will still make a good companion for you. Of course the more time you spend with them, the more affectionate they are,
  • Alex Norman - 2012-05-22
Do not put two males or two females together because they will fight. Have a female and a male that's what I have done but I got the male first and had him neutered and then got her and had her spayed when she was settled in and old enough.

Well said, Charlie, you are absolutely right. Bottom line is bunny should have enough space to run and safe place to sleep. I wish many rabbit owners would do the same. To avoid any territorial behaviour as I have a house rabbit I left it as just one, instead of two.
