Hi, I had a black and white dutch and he was the most friendly rabbit that I have ever met. He was very social and loved people and our dog very much. If you ever want a pet rabbit, definitely choose a dutch rabbit, a male if you can. They are much more friendly than the females. Mine lived to be 10 years old. They make fantastic pets!!

Polish cost around $25 normally and they are pretty easy going. Not bitey but like to taste your fingers when little. Not biting just more like a pup licks you.

I have 2 polish and I bought them for $30

Hi -

I've had the pleasure of sharing my home with bunnies for the past 20 years and currently have four, one of which is a beautiful light gray, spunky Holland Lop named Samson. Not one bunny has ever once had a hairball (and they certainly shed quite a bit) and they are happy and healthy. The best advice I can offer is to feed these darling creatures an abundance of hay as long as it's Timothy as it's low in protein (Oxbow is the best company out there to order hay from...it's incredibly high quality and smells unbelievably fresh...once you've tried it it's hard to go back to the usual store bought brands). The rabbits appreciate it tremendously and it is now considered very good practice by many rabbit savvy vets and rescuers to give rabbits unlimited hay daily, again as long as it's Timothy. Supplementing alfalfa or other hays in every now and then is fine but Alfalfa is too high in protein. Also check out rabbitcare.org.

Olive (sorry but this is very detailed and long) - 2014-08-03
Hi i recently adopted a Britannia Petite Rabbit named Olive (hence my name) When i first got her home, I gave her time to get used to the surroundings of her cage which is big enough for her to jump around 4 1/2 times the length of herself (as she is just a baby) I then put a litter box in her cage a left her for the remainder of the day and night obviously with food and water. The next day I opened the cage door and made it her decision as to when she wanted to come out. I then proceeded to look in her litter box and noticed she had used it, I thought this was weird because she was just a baby and had never been litter box trained before but i saw she hadn't gone anywhere else in her cage. She was born litter box trained! When she finally came out of her cage I lay on my floor with my laptop, in my bunny proofed room, and let her explore me and the room. She sniffed my and each day we did this for a couple hours, we started with baby steps. Then i started getting her used to my hands, I tried to fed her carrots from my hand but she wouldn't take it yet,I started with a long carrot and made it shorter an shorter till she was eating right off my palm. Now she was associating my hands with treats. Anyways after a couple weeks of this she is now completely comfortable around me and follows me everywhere I go, she is completely litter trained and loves to lick:) I try to pick her up a little as possible but when I do she has no problem with it. If you want to tame and bond with your Britannia Petite rabbit this is the way to do it! I can honestly say she is the perfect bunny, even if she needs hours of floor time every day! Sorry this was so long and detailed but thanks for reading!!

Do lion heads live in Penrith NSW? And are they allowed to live in NSW? If they do, please post a 'Link' with Lionhead bunnies for sale. Since my bunny died, I want a 'lion head' bunny. I can't find any results for lion head bunnies in NSW..

Hi! My name is Michelle, our family just adopted a 3 month old mini rex from a local pet shop. She is a complete lovebug, wants to be held almost constantly, and has incredibly velvety fur, the color of hot chocolate with milk. Our 3 daughters just adore our new little friend, and are debating whether to call her Snuggles or Betsy. We are very pleased with the breed we chose, and she seems to be litterbox training herself (we put litter in a shallow tupperware dish). We strongly recommend this breed for families.

We have a mini rex just over 3 months old. She is litter trained gos all over the house but hates to be picked up. Is there a secret to being able to hold them.
  • Clarice Brough - 2014-07-22
Some rabbits just don't want to be held, though sometimes this changes with age or when they are spayed or neutered. One thing that can help, when you need to handle her, put your hand on the head first before picking her up. This is a natural dominance action and may help to make her more submissive for handling.

I got two mini lops, they are 4 1/2 months old and are very skittish. They hate being held and don't want anything to do with us. They get along and play with our dog, but want nothing to do with humans. Is this normal behavior? How do I get them to come around we have had them for a month now.

well Devin this is not very common but my rabbit Lilly was like that until I started spending lots of time with them maybe they will like that forever but spend more time with them and treat them while you pet them and such I really hope this works for you!!
