My fancy mouse, popcorn, looks sick. At first he got an eye infection where he couldn't open his eye. I took him to the vet and I put medicine on his eye.
It got better so I stopped using it. Now, a couple months later, he is all the sudden not eating, or moving, his breathing habits have changed, and his eye infection came back. Just today I put more medicine on his eye and hope it will get better soon. When I put him back in his cage this morning at about 1:00 he went to the corner of the cage and now its 10:00 p.m. and he hasn't even moved an inch. please help.

My sons pet mouse has been doing a lot of scratching. I noticed the other day that his ears are scabby and actually looks like some parts are missing. Yesterday, I noticed that he does not want to sleep/hide in his house anymore he is just sleeping in the open which is unusual. He seems to be eating fine. Any thoughts or ideas as to what may be wrong and how I can help?

Your mouse may have a parasite...possibly lice. Get it checked by a vet ASAP-they'll treat it with antibiotics. Don't use over the counter products...they're too strong and will kill your mouse. Good luck!

Hey, mouse goers---i just bought 3 female mice- and one male im breeding them for the sole purpose of feeding their young to my incredible ball python snake sifer!!!! he/she is only 5 1/2 months old but eats like a champ!!! so i figure breeding mice would be the most cost effective--- i have no intentions of feeding the mice i have now to him/her cause ive given them names Mirah Mellisa Mary and Patrick:) quick question how big do the litters get and how long should i expose them to light per day?

HELP! my fat mouse Patches suddenly is having diarrea and crust in her eyes. she looks depressed and is always lying down in a corner. i have no idea what is wrong with her. i recently changed her diet from petco mouse treats to normal mouse pellets and moved her to a new cage. i did this before with my other mice but she is the only one with problems. what is wrong with her?

Change of diet can be the main reason why mice and othr rodents get dierhea if she is over weight then thats why she doesnt look happy and sits in the corner because she is unable to move around and gets tired easier because she is over weight keep on normally mouse pellets that you were feeding her before and cut out all treats and put a exciser wheel in her change and also check on her teeth

Ok, I woke up this morning and my mouse was just sitting in her tube, which she never does. So I took her out of it snd she started to scratch + lick her butt, another thing she doesn't do. So I took a look, and her butt is very swollen, bleeding, and scabby. I put a dab of mineral oil on it earlier, but it doesn't seem to help. If you can please reply, that would be great! thanks, -- Emily <3

That sounds serious, it has never happened to my mice, but perhaps your mouse is constipated. I suggest to try feeding your mouse fruits and veggies, to help not work her end muscles too much. If this does not work, see a vet. I hope this will help.

Are you sure it's her butt.............? And are you sure she was'nt attacked? I'd just leave her be, unless it's caused by the inside wall being affected of her rectum/anus, otherwise it could just be a bite from another female so I'd just leave it be.

My mouse Marny died this Saturday before I went to my friends place. I looked in to the mouse cage and I saw that she died. Today, me, Nathy, and mummy buried her body in the ground and we put her in a box to be safe and she's next to Sqirter, Nathye's bird. Marny has a sister called Splindora. We give her lots of cuddles, we check on her lots of times, Marny was black and white. The whole family loved her and no-one will ever take her place in our hearts.

I have two mice now: Clover and Sunny. Tumbleweed just recently went back to the earth so I have been feeling a little down. I noticed Clover's eye have been pinched shut and a little glossy. They are worse today than yesterday and I came to this site to see if there is anything that could help me help her. Thank you so much for the info.

I've been reading some of the posts where people had found stray mice. I too, found a white mouse with tan spots in my backyard. Actually, my cat found her first, then my dog saw it and they were both tormenting it. The little mouse wasn't running away, just looking at them looking confused. I intervened and took her in the house. Fortunately, I had a spare 10 gallon aquarium to put her in. I thought it was odd to find a mouse, but then I remembered that my neighbors have a Python, so maybe she escaped from it too! It's been about 3 months and she seems very happy except for an occasional "asthma" attack. (I don't know for sure if it's asthma, but she occasionally has trouble breathing for about a 1/2 hour and then she's fine; never symptomatic long enough to take her the vet). She's a finicky mouse, she refuses to eat commercial mouse/rat food. I have to give her different types of cereals, oatmeal, dried/fresh fruit, fresh greens, pumpkin seeds and sometimes a bit of her favorite - Cheese! (It's not a myth, mice do like cheese!) I never would have gone out and purchased a mouse for a pet, but she is very sweet and I'm so glad I found her!

I love mice except my mom hates them. They are the best pets in the world and they are the furriest little critters. I am planning to get 4 mice when I am older. I used to have a white mouse named Snowy,
but he escaped and I had to return him.
