Ella - 2009-01-08 i have had a hamster for 7 months i can not tame him i have tried everything like leave him alone and then pick him up but i am soooo scared of him he bites every one he has always been nasty we have brought 2 cages but he has chewed them all please help me!!!!!!!!

Pam - 2010-04-28 I was told by the pet store owner, if they bite they may be needing some protein in their diet. Like, Ferret food, dry cat food. I gave mine pieces of boiled egg she loves it. Also, I didn't know mine was a female until 1 wk. later "Jerry" became a "Jerryann" when she had 6 babies. I read they'll bite too when ter'yre pregnant due to irritability. Babies are 13 days old now, found one runt today and I'm trying to keep it healthy. Males may have a stronger odor too when they urinate. Good Luck!
Katelin - 2008-12-31 Hi,my name is katelin and I just got a female golden hamster for christmas and her name is, Barlow. She is very sweet and has only bit me once, but I think it was totally accidental. We got her a habitrail, she LOVES it and we got her a ball which she goes completely wild in. I think she is the best looking hamster in the universe, she is bright gold with white lightning stripes on each side of her body. I just love my little Barlow to death and I pamper her to pieces.

Haley - 2008-12-26 Hi there, I just want to say that I got a hamster on christmas eve and I love her and her name is Holly. She is the best ever and never bites at all and I did NOT tame her at all. She is very pretty. She is brown and white. I got her at petco. I did not know nothing about it until my bro got a puppy on christmas eve and so we went to get food and a leash etc. for her, and my mom told me to pick out a hamster. I was so surprised and happy. I could not believe it and now my mom will not come in my room, haha, and thats about my hamster Holly. I lov ya Holly. holly rules!

Sabrina - 2008-11-28 Tonight at November 28 I went to hold my hamster, and when I tried to hold it his back got stiff and I couldn't hold him. His name was Mario. My mom checked him out and tried to hold him too, but the same thing happend with Mario. Then Shanelle my sister held him and he didn't freck out like he did when I tryed to hold him. It was really weird to me, then I held Maya-Mia.
Lily Tarrant - 2008-11-09 Hi! I went to Petsmart yesterday, and me and my mom saw these REALLY cute hamsters. They were males, but they had big lumps by their tail! It was very strange, but the hamsters were SO SWEET! Seriously, they were so cute and sweet but the thing I didn't like about 'em was those lumps! I've never seen anything like it! Well, I might also get a hamster for Xmas because I didn't tell anyone what I wanted for it, and I made a new wish list and it says, "I want a cute hamster, plus all the items to take care of it!" Well, it said like a food bowl, exercise wheel and all of that stuff. ok, gotta go!

Some of the websites say it is scent glands and some say it has something to do with hair loss and i should go see the vet. I dont know what to do. So anyone who knows alot about hamsters and has any idea what this is then please comment back before this thing on her stomach gets out of control! so please comment back!:D
