My husband and I decided to try bringing a pink toed tarantula into our home after having much success with 2 Rose Hairs. I have to say that I think they are a nasty little spider and very unsociable. It used to run towards the opened doors of its inclosure every time we opened the doors and poops down the side of the glass. Now it has a very elaberate web and will not come out of its web, I guess except for at night. Every time we have tried to handle it, it has jumped. I enjoy our female Chilaen Rose a whole lot more, and we are thinking of trading the pink toed in on something more friendly.

I bought mine last month, they were an inch long and now they are about 2-2 1/4 inches. I'm telling you these pokies can eat and they are fast. Can't wait for them to get much bigger so I can see the amazing colors of this species. And please don't handle them, pokies have stronger venom than any tarantulas. They are only for display, like a pet fisn in an aquarium.

My cousins and I went to the pet shop to find a pet and who knew we'd end up buying a tarantula? I'm not sure if my tarantula is a boy or girl, but I think its a boy. He's such a sweetie and hasn't bitten anyone so far. This expierience made me get over my fear of spiders and I hope to have him for a long time!

I've got a goliath bird eater. Shes a girl and I've had her for about 5 months now. Her name is Anabel. Lately she is acting really weird, i think she is going to molt soon. She hides in her log all the time, even at night. I just hope shes ready to molt, but i dont want her to molt in her log because i dont want to disturb her tank and rip it up once she's finished molting. She's cool though, but frustrating at the same time.

Before i started the first year of animal management in college, i was petrified of spiders. Now in the second year, i convinced my mother spiders are awesome and i brough a chili rose, Honey. I have a 2 year old sister, and as usual she has a lot of energy. When i get home from the farm she pesters me to get Honey out. Honey has taught her to be gentle and that animals are great. They are the best to learn with and starting off small helps gain trust and curiosity from the little ones. Even now we love to sit and watch her hunt and sleep, she is so incredible. My little sister likes to see her move, so she gently strokes her back legs to see her walk up my arm. She will sit there giggling for ages!
P.S always keep children supervised with all animals, including spiders (obviously).

I have just recently gotten a rose hair for a pet and she is wonderful. I am 13 and at first i was nervous to hold her, but when I did she was very calm and great. Now i hold her much more often and enjoy it. These tarantulas make great pets.
