I just purchased a rosehairtarantula and I love it.I had been given one before but was never told how to water the spider. So i just feed it lots of bugs and thought that it would drink the body juices. I was very unhappy to find out the hard way that they needed water when i found her not moving. I was sad and buried it in the back yard. Hope everything goes better this time.

So, my friends had me stop at the pet store before I came over because they needed a mouse to feed thier snake, Zoe. When I went in the lady brought me back to the area where they keep the mice, small snakes, and other small critters. My boyfriend was looking at the king snakes when he saw the rose hair tarantula. He said, "Hey, look at this." She was adorable (and I don't really like spiders all that much), so I asked if I could hold her. I was instantly attached. I asked the lady if she could get the stuff I would need for her and took her with me. Her name is Pandora, and even my dad (who freaked when I brought her home) likes her. He wanted to name her fluffy, but that would not fit my beautiful exotic pet.

My pinktoe is quite aggie. It squirts fecal almost every time I try to handle it, plus it definitely likes to jump. I've only had it for a short while, so I'm hoping it'll get better with time. Overall,I'm glad I bought it though. Aric

On a recent Webelo's camp out we were privileged to see 9 of these Oklahoma Brown Tarantula's. It was on the drive out and the spiders had crawled up on the road seeking warmth because the outside air temperature had dropped off quite a bit.

I actually was just looking up a spider that crawled across my front lawn yesterday, seems spidey was a female rose haired tarantula. Pretty weird for Oklahoma, but then again lately it's been the perfect temperature/humidity for them outside. It was probably just someone's pet that escaped, I feel sorry for them now, because my grandma killed it because she's way afraid of spiders, even the harmless ones. I wanted to keep it, it was so cute and when I put my hand in front of it it crawled right on and was very handleable. Too bad my grandma's freaked out by stuff like that cause I have no doubt she woulda been awesome

I've had my rosea for about 5 weeks, I named it Lestat after the vampire in queen of the damned. My girlfriend bought me it for my birthday but I've not allowed her in the house so she stays with my gf. I go to my gf as much as I can to see Lestat. The other day I was lucky enough to watch her shed her skin and tonight I'm going round to give her her first meal since shedding.
I have never had a more interesting pet. The other day she made a lot of webs around the opening to her shelter to begin her shedding process. It was amazing to watch.
The first day I got her I handled her, she bite me but it didn't hurt as she was way too small to cause any damage and I know I'm not allergic to the venom. Lestat Loves to walk around her enclosure over and over again. We don't use any heat pads because my gf's bedroom is very warm and is over the top of the heating pipes, so the floor acts like a heater. I coudn't have asked for a better pet :D

This site was VERY helpful to me. I have had my pink toe for about a year now. My husband bought him for me for Valentines. He's great! My 5yr. old son and 9 yr. old daughter helped me name him "Spiderman". When my husband first brought him home, I right away got on the internet to find out about him. I only found 1 site and it had very little info. I wish I would have known about this site a year ago! He has molted 2 times now and is a very good eater! We all love to watch him grab a cricket and chow down. My children thinks its "cool!" Thanks again for all the more helpful info. and the comment section is really good to read also.

We recently received our Louis as a gift from our brothers, we were very scared, but still intriged. Once to twice a week we get Louis out to play with his uncles, we are warming up to the handling of Louis after reading everyone's opinons. We weren't sure what to feed him, we started off with crickets and moved to a small feeder mouse, and believe it or not, Louis ate him! All that was left was a skelton of half the feeder. We were amazed, after our readings we will stay with the smaller foods, ex: crickets, which he loves, and we would like to try some mill or wax worms. We leave our Louis out in our garage. He has a heat rock and a heat lamp, a cave and a nice tropical tree with a thermostate. Louis's house is really warm since at times our garage has gotten to 0 degrees. We are learning daily and we are very amazed that our little Louise ate a mouse as big as him! He is our Little Monster! Thank you for your stories, we will be enjoying Louis, we have already made some movies and will be showing them soon on www.burntcraniumentertainment.com. "Louis to a theater near you!" Sincerely, Ryan&Tracy. 2-20-08

I have had my T. blondi for about 4 months now. I have apparently found a very docile one. I have never had a problem with him trying to bite me. I assume he is male due to his lanky legs. He does shoot urticating hairs pretty often but I have not been struck thus far. He just recently molted but did not flip on his back. I'm about 1 year into the tarantula hobby (at least on owning them). I also own a rose hair, I believe she is female, but it is extremely hard to sex a tarantula from what I have researched. At the moment my Goliath is black and very beautiful. This pet is much better than any (normal) other pet I could own. I am much more appreciative of these pets. I also have held him on many occasions with no problems, but like I said mine is very docile. It does get moody but I leave it alone when it begins to hiss. If anyone would like to talk to me about my experiences or theirs, my myspace name is shinigami-chan.
