FYI, I have had my corn snake for 4 years now and just recently put her into a much bigger aquarium with lots of stretching room. One thing I didn't think of was the humidity. More area less humidity. Expensive lesson to learn as my ER doctor informed me to soak her once or twice a week in warm bath water to help illiminate low humidity problems and aide in shedding of their skin. Also, no need to use vitamin supplement sprays on a snake. They are one of the only species we feed correctly.

ball pythons are exceptional easy to care for. they make great pets because of their docility. if you are a novice when it comes to caring for reptiles, i recommend you begin with a ball python.

JD here I have had my RTB for about 2 years now she is growing at about 2 inches a month and is already 5 feet long she is the nicest snake I have owned. I also have a albino burmesse python he is 9 feet and 30 lbs kind of mean but still love him. I would recommend a RTB to anyone looking for a great snake. Kelly is very tame I love taking her to parties she likes the attention as long as the room is quiet. Anyways thanks for letting me post the comment. JD

columbian red tails are lovely boas, usually docile and very easy to care for, but the two things i want to add on this care guide There is no mention of thermostats, and also that they to be totally happy they should have a medium to high humidity level.

i had a rgs for about 2 months i named it sully i love that snake but..it only ate twice though out of the 2 months..and then died. i never knew exactly when i was supposed to feed it cause the person i got it from never told me and i didn't have a computer at the time to look it up. so i put a cricket in there every other day thinking it would just eat it whenever it was hungry. but i guess it was never hungry cause the crickets ended up dying in there, had to clean them out. i put water and everything, Sully never touched it and i didn't know what to do. but now i found your website..and read how i was supposed to feed it...thank you for the information..

hi, i am 16 years old and have and owned over 70 snakes. i found with ball/royal pythons, they do tend to have trouble eating from time to time. for intance one of my royal pythons didnt it for 2weeks. other than that they are great pets. all snakes are great pets. for beginners are corn snakes. i do not recommend rat snakes for beginners because they tend to bite a lot more than corns.

hi. i have and owned over 70 snakes and i am only 16 yrs old. i am known by many of europes best herpetologists. i breed RTB and have breed many sucessful hybrids. many people say that RTBs are not very good as starter snakes or for younger persons, i totally disagree with that. RTB's make excellent starter snakes and are great for younger persons. they rarely bite. i have been breeding since i was 12 and not one of my snakes have bitten me.

We found our RGS sunning on a road in the path of a school bus. It was nervous on the first day, ate 4 crickets on the active second day, and made a nest and coiled up quietly by the third night. So far, so good. Thanks for the info...
