I have had a ball python now for about two and a half years. Her name is Chocolate. I am 13 years old, and they are amazing pets. (especially for beginners!!) Very easy to care for, dont require much. Mine once went for 3 months without eating simply because I re-did her cage. Very picky eaters, but are excellent pets. Gets along great with everyone. Never attempted to bite. Love reptiles and am thinking about getting a Bearded Dragon.

I rescued a Boa Constrictor Imperator (Emperor of the Boa Constrictors) from a certain death! He now has a huge cage, private bath and neat rock.....he hates heat lamps and temps above 80.
His name was Theasius because he was an escape artist, but I renamed him Kilroy...fits his nature.....you know when he's been around!
HE IS GOD AWESOME BEAUTIFUL AND HAS BECOME 5'5" IN A YEAR! He was an underfed and under handled snake, now he's an every day explorer and fed once a week. He is my buddy and has head bunted me once when he did not want to go back into his huge home,.but he nipped my oldest son who was ticking him off. Otherwise he is a loving and parrot like Boa. He prefers being on your shoulders, heavy boy too, and loves to watch as I am on my Mac.
He likes to rest on my bed and snuggle on my dialysis days, sneaking into the covers and sleeping, acting like my guard dog when I sleep. I am not sure I rescued him or he has rescued me. He is my Emperor Boa and my Family loves him, all 8 of us, from my 1 year old to me. I can't wait till he is 7 feet long.....nor can my wife. He is a goofy rep who loves to sit on your shoulders or lap and be petted. He loves his head and throat stroked...weird huh?

Ken Huffman

P.S.
Kilroy was here!

The Sonran gopher is a really smart and beautiful animal. I would recommend one as a starter pet. I just caught one close to my house. Mine is very tame and friendly, i have a lot of siblings that go from 2-10 and they have all held him. I also have a red tail boa contrictor that is about 3 feet long, and the snakes get along beautifully. The day after i caught the gopher i fed him an adult mouse and he ate easily. He is definitely a good eater.

Monica here. Just wanted to add to the breeding section . . . as with many boas, the red tails have internal incubation, to be vague. The young are born with the placenta intact; each in their own sac. There is no egg laying or incubation required with red tail boas.

i have a baby albino corn snake. its skin color is pink and white. it eats once a week, a small frozen pinky. its kept in a 10 gallon long tank with uvb lighting, and with a nightlamp and daylamp. i play with it at least once a day. very tamed snake only while hiding, and couldnt be approached suddenly or it will attack.

The info you have on Columbian Red Tail Boas is great. I used to have one but unfortunately i had to give it away because it got way to big for my house.

I have had my albino snow corn snake for nearly two years. He's such a friendly snake and he likes to be handled and the attention he gets. He is so easy to look after and he downs his food every time.
So if there is anyone out there who is thinking of getting a snake, i'd recommend the corn snake due to its docile nature, because they're easy to look after and there are many different breeds to choose from.
