My Malaysian Forest Scorpion is 8 1/2 inches in length and is VERY AGGRESSIVE! if you move her cave while she is beside it, she pinches it and her tail sometimes strikes it. Same goes with anything that moves near her! Very cool pet and very hardy. Have had her for 4 years, and she has gone through 3 molts in my possesion.

There can't be enough said about them. They are the best beginner scorpions. I have owned 2 and the one I currently have is 4 inch "lazy bum". She is very calm but she will not eat unless I put the crickets up to her mouth. She will try to make an attempt to pinch me every now and then, but it is more of a "love" pinch than a defensive one!

If you REALLY want a challege get a RED CLAW SCORPION. It is from the same GENUS family but with a little attitude. I have owned 2 and the reputation on some care pages give them a "bad" deposition. I am not stupid now, all scorpions have the ability to sting you. I have owned a female who was "mean" the first day I got her and after handling her she was more calm and mellow than my emperor scorpion I had at the time. The male I own now is a little more defensive but he calms downs quickly and believe it or not he likes to have his back rubbed like my flat rock scorpion. He is a pincher (My Aunt Ann, who died on my 38th birthday last year may she rest in peace, pinched me a lot harder). He has not made the slighest attempt to sting me. If you have an opportunity to grab one DON'T let it passed you by DOGGONE IT!

The Flat Rock Scorpion is just as adorable as the Emperor Scorpion. I have owned 2 and the one I currently own is a 5 inch female excluding the tail. She is gentle and the only scorpion my 6 year old son will hold for now. She LOVES to be held and her back rubbed! I would recommend this over the emperor scorpion only because it is a lot harder to get SOMETIMES!

I bought a Scorpion in TX about 6 months ago. I managed to get her all the way back to WI. Everyone that hears the word "Scorpion" is amazed to hear I have one and they take immediate interest. My girlfriend's mother said she hated anything with 8 legs, but fell in love with it and my GF wants one too! If you ever thought about getting one DO IT, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

I love my flat rock scorpion! At first, I wondered why I even got her because I am terrified of spiders and other bugs that could possibly bite or sting you, but the longer I have her, the more I love her. She is the most docile scorpion I have seen, so it is easy to care for her without the fear of being stung. I can grab her water dish from right in front of her and she won't pinch or sting me. She is definitely the best pet I have ever had and I couldn't be happier!

Well, about 4 months ago my girlfriend and I purchased a single emperor scorpion from a local pet shop. at the time, we had no clue if it was male or female, and really didnt care! we were just excited to finally have one.

as of today, we figured out that it's female...
we had quite the shock when we went to look at it and discovered 25-30 little white baby scorpions clinging to her back! to be completely honest im still in shock as i write this.

with all the wonderfulness, now we just have the problem of figuring out what to do with them all!

My friend ate an Emperor this weekend, pretty amazing creature. He said it tasted like burnt pop-corn, who would have thunk it.

It was not previously mentioned, so I ought to add that adding a black light to your terrarium will not only provide a slight amount of heat but also give your scorpion(s) a bright Twilight Zone like greenish glow in the dark. For those of you interested in keeping a scorpion, I wish you the best of luck and hope that you fall in love with those magnificent creatures of darkness.
