I have a different experience with this: "They are, however, not affectionate and you should not choose them as a pet to share love and affection." My pet iguana, Luxor, who is 12 years old is very affectionate. He gets terribly lonely when I leave the room. He won't eat when I'm not at home. All he wants is to be held and hugged. He's very spoiled and loves me very much. So don't be saying that they are not capable of love! Luxor follows me around for goodness sakes! Of course that is his personality. Not all iguanas are like that. But many are very loving.

I once was owned by the most beautiful green iguana. It's been about 6yrs. since she passed, and it seems every day that goes by I miss her even more...I had Baby for over 5yrs. she grew to an amazing 6ft from nose to tail...I've been thinking of getting another, but I'm afraid I'll forget about Baby...Thanks...

I have a two year old Iguana and he is alot of fun, often times when I am making his meal I will put him or he will climb up onto the top of the fridge and I will feed him bits of his meal by hand. I also take him out on a leash to climb trees in my courtyard. It gives me alot of oppertunitues to educate others about Iguanas.

I have two green iguana's and they are one of the easiest animals to care for. However, they are not the most friendly. Iguana's tend to want to be on their own and rarely want a companion. They also do not like to be caged with other iguana's unless they are in season. This is some helpful advice to people who want to get an Iguana as a pet: for one thing consider lighting, the cage, it's nutrition(fresh fruit and veggies) and tlc(tender loving care). I mean would you be happy if you was stuck in a cage all day? Well, I just want to up-date some people on the info on green iguanas. Their a great pet if you consider all the tasks before you buy one.
