My Rose hair is 17 yrs old, had her for 3 years and she just had her first molt in my care. She did not flip on her back like I've read. She did seem a bit lethargic and didn't want to eat, so I had thought she might be sick...I did not expect the molt since she did't flip over. She is the most gentle creature I've ever had, very docile and slow. People are always surprised at how big she is.

My name is Laura, and i own an Emporer Red Tail. Her name is Layla and she is 6.5 ft long. My boyfriend and i saved her when we first got together. Her previous owner let her get into a pool table. Her owner also never fed her. We have had her for about a year now, and she is doing well and getting better. Her scar is also fading. Even though she wasn't taken care of before, she is a very sweet and docile snake. She loves to be out and tries to get out of her tank before i can close it. She lets us kiss her on the head and she gives us kisses. She likes to breathe in your ear also. She has so much personality and i would definitely say im glad to have her.

We have a beautiful young royal python named Cleopatra. She didn't eat for the first couple weeks, but she loves to eat for us now. We wash our hands and take her out and play with her every day for about an hour. Every three days or so, we thaw a frozen "fuzzy" mouse for her. We put her back in her container and dangle it in front of her by the tail. We love to watch her gobble mice up.

One of the theories for the name "royal" python is that Cleopatra used to wear ball pythons around her wrist as a bracelet. Of course, we love to do the same thing!

My grandma is 43 years old she and has had her rose hair for 5 months.
Her name is zelda. At first I was scared to hold her, but last night I held her and she was so calm and beautiful. I am anxious to hold her again. Zelda is in premolting stage. My grandma says this is an amazing sight. I hope to see it while I am still here.

My ex-husband was going to send our first turtle into a lake because the turtle became very aggressive, and my ex was questioning why. Well, after some research and talking to some reptile stores, my ex is actually the one to blame, he changed his habitat and put some turtles in with him. I told him that I would take him home with me. His name is Stretchy, so he is about 7 years old, I took all of my fish out of there home of a 55 gal, and gave it to Stretchy. I also, was lucky enough to find a female. I am not sure how old she is, but she is now at about 6 inches in shell. Haven't given here a name yet. She is much darker than Stretchy. This information on this site has really given some more pointers on the habitat they need to be in. I will be making it bigger for them and giving them some sand instead of rocks. I am very happy with them!!!

We have had an albino corn snake since April of this year and LOVE him. He has been the best pet. I just wish I had discovered snakes as pets before I discovered dogs and cats. Very easy to care for. Our albino is very docile, loves to be held, has never coiled or offered to strike, has never hissed. We feed him in a separate plastic container so that he does not associate our hand coming into his home as offering food. In late May, we got a ghost corn snake. We keep her in a separate home than our albino, though they are about the same size (now about 18 inches). She is not as friendly as our albino, though she still has not offered to strike. She does become somewhat apprehensive when you try to pick her up and she does get in the striking position sometimes. She is not as comfortable being held and when in her home, she hides most of the time, while our albino loves lying in his tree or on the sand. We bought them at different stores so I imagine they were handled differently in the stores and that is why they are so different now. Or I guess they could just have different temperaments like people do!

I recently found a western box turtle on a street in a development in Albuquerque about 1/2 mile from the Bosque of the Rio Grande. I made a pen outdoors facing east with shade. He is strong and feisty with a very good appetite. I feed him by hand sometimes and I do take care to keep my fingers well back from his beak. He has adjusted well so far. I thought about releasing him but dogs often run free in the Bosque and there are coyotes and skunks as well. If anyone has advice about hibernation outdoors of this type of turtle I would appreciate the input. It can get fairly cold here at night but when the sun is up it is fairly comfortable. Temperatures can dip to the teens. Maybe he should winter indoors.
