Sounds like you are doing all the right things. It is best not to handle the snake right after shedding. It is much like someone touching you after a sunburn. Give the snake a few days before handling.

Thanks. So when he is sheding I should not mess with him? Should I just wait tell he is done or what and how long does it take for him to shed?

So how often will my snake shed or does that depend on how often I feed him and all so how often do you think I need to feed him? I have been feeding him ever 4 to 5 days is that to much or just enough? This is the first time I owned a snake am doing good so far just want to know from some one that really knows about snakes

I've just got a new female rose and I'd like to know how venomous they are? Would I need hospital treatment if she did bite me? I'm new to this so any advise would be a gr8 help

It is a sting - I have been told (I have not been bitten) but similar to a bee sting. Where a person can run into problems is if they allergic. Otherwise it just hurt locally and you should wash it off with a betadine or anticeptic solution, put some ice on it and go on back for another try.

Too cute! I'm not AT ALL a fan of snakes or other crepy-crawly critters, but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for geckos. Why, I have no idea especially after a college friend's pet gecko peed all over me several years back. I hear it's a defense mechanism, so there's your fair warning!

Well, I had one scorpion. It was kind of bluish green and I don't actually know if it was an emperor or a malaysian. It was not aggressive but it pinched me a lot of times. It ate geckos and other stuff (because in the Philippines you can't find good feeders without great cost). It was not that aggressive either, it usually crawled onto my palm if I placed my palm in front of it. Unfortunately it died because I was ignorant in taking care of it at that time. It lived for only 3 weeks in my care, but I'm planning to buy another one so I've read a lot of info about both species of scorpions. I live in the Philippines and would like to know what kind it was. Again, it was bluish green and it was very cheap, costing only 500 - 700 pesos, about 8-13 bucks.

My Rose Hair 'Subie' was fine in her coconut shell, after she molted we got her a bigger cave like dwelling, (she got bigger)now she wont go in.........should I wait or put her coconut back? First time parent here, any help please appreciated, I searched everywhere. Thank you

If you have the room, I'd put both in and let her get used to the new larger one as she wishes on her time frame. She can use the coconut in the interim. A little security.

The eggs hatch in about 8 weeks. I'd give it another two weeks after that to make sure they are all eating crickets and then you should be able to seel or give them away.

You are all nutso! Just wait until they invade your home where your 17 month old child is! Yeah, having them as pets is too cool for me. It's going to be fabulous when the escape and sting you and you walk around all day and night with a blacklight scared for your childs life! See I just got unfortunate with the house I bought and didn't know that there was a ton of bark scorpions living in and out back of my home. To keep them as pets is the strangest thing I've ever heard of... and breeding them!

I understand that it is not fun to live in a house with scorpions crawling around but it's not a reason to call people who love scorpions nuts. It is different when you keep your scorpion in a tank from which he can't escape than seeing them around the house and having to check your clothes for them. You shouldn't be hating on the scorps but on yourself because you didn't check the house.

Umm dude, I have owned 2 scorpions. My dad has owned multiple tarantulas. I'm 13 and not scared and I'm not nuts

I agree with u....me and my husband were laying in bed talking with the lights on and my nephew came in and said 'there is a scorpion in your bed!!!' so I freaked out. I'm not scared of the scorpion persay but in fear for my children so I must agree with scorpions being pest!!!

I completely agree with you, I am an outdoorsman, hunting and fishing guide and scorpion student/scientist. I do not however want to put down anyone who is also like me and finds them interesting and enjoys learning more about them in there own way, that is your right. As I take a look at everything that I do and choose to do I find that my great joy is finding these creatures in there own habitat and choose study them there. Although you and I may agree on the subject others will oppose I get where where you are coming from, and I hope everything is working out for you, just remember not every scorpion lover has a tank full of them of is breeding them.

Gosh that's a little unusual. The legs will curl when they go into a molt, but being just one leg, I'm wondering if it was hurt. As long as it eats and can still get around, when it does molt the leg should hopefully get back to normal.

yes but you have to keep a very close eye on them and if they are not fully grown birds will try to eat them and also sulcata tortoises hate and do not go well with dogs

i own a bradlyselma smithi or more commonly known as the red knee tarantula and the funny thing i found out is when you place a insect on the palm of your hand the tarantula will ran at it and strike it, and when you do this it will come to you and if you do this a certain amount of times the tarantula will become comfortable with your palm and will walk towards it searching for food, it will recognise your hand immediatly. i would recomend wearing a glove for the first few times as the tarantula may mistake your finger for a insect.
