After living in the tank with our Blenny for several months, our Wrasse suddenly decided to start tearing it apart one day.

I bought my Lunar Wrasse when he was around 2 inches. Now he is 6 inches and he just attacked my Algae Blenny, who I had in my tank for 3 years. I would not consider this fish peaceful as he is always on the lookout for trouble. Today I will be adding an in-tank refugium to try and save the creature from the Black Lagoon.

i had 2 cleaner wrasses in my tank and one of them died while giving birth, only 2 of the babys have survived and one adult wrasse is still alive. they are very good to watch and do help clean your fish. i have a blue tang and the tang swims up to the wrasse and stays very still while the wrasse cleans it. very good fish.

I have a 6 foot tank, and i have 2 cleaner wrasses in my tank. ive had one for 6 months and another for just over a month. believe me they provide an excellent service to their tank mates. Not a problem at all. i guess it all depeneds on how much room and what you have in your tank. My cleaners are sharing a tank with 5 assorted tangs, clowns and flasher wrasse.

I have been eyeing this fish for several months but all we owned was freshwater tanks. Finally we set up a saltwater tank and have got a good-sized lionfish, dog-face puffer, and a snowflake eel. Combined, these fish are awesome...until I finally talked my man into the greenbird wrasse. At first he was reluctant and wanted a Niger Trigger but now with our greenbird, our tank is much more alive than before! He adds color and activity since the other fish like to hide and mainly come out at night to hunt. Perfect decision if you ask me!

the slpendid leopard wrasse needs a sandy tank bottom as it does tend to bury itself when not looking for food

Its good to hear about the hiding in the sand. I just introduced one into my tank and have not seen it in 2 days. Started to worry that I lost him but have read they like to hide in the sand.
Very beautiful and hard to find. Good luck everyone!

Working in a fish store for a short time educated me that the young dragons ABSOLUTELY NEED TO BE FED SEVERAL times a day. I do not mean flake! Chopped......chopped small silversides or any other shrimp/fish is necessary because they do not like to try to rip large pieces apart when young. (at least not the prima donnas at the store!) They LOVE young baby mollies and live saltwater feeder shrimp! This is especially helpful if they are not eating chopped items; due to weakness from hunger or stress of the shipment; since it entices them to eat if they ignore frozen meat. (not newborn mollies, more like 1 or 2 months depending on the size of the dragon, so feeder guppies would work temporarily) Like a mandarin, look at the bottom of the fish behind the gills and that area should be full, not thin or concave. If it is, then start feeding! They will starve to death without enough food. Their metabolism is very fast. In the wild they constantly turn rocks looking for food, so like the anthias, the young really need many small feedings a day and will stop eating when full. Hope this helps!
