the triggerfish that you have listed as a brown trigger is more known as the white tailed trigger. it is very agressive, much like the undulated trigger. although I think that it is not as agressive. the white tail does have alot of personality much like the huma trigger.

I have had a Niger Trigger for about 2 years, and he is an excellent reef-mate. When I got him, I was told to be careful for smaller fish, inverts, my diadema and other smaller creatures. Other than 2x having my fingers in the water (yes, ouch!!), my trigger has been a fantastic addition to my 180g DT. He leaves the little guys alone, and is not really all that aggressive to existing and new fish. He eats absolutely all foods I give, and is living the fat and happy life. he is probably 5-6 inches currently with fantastic streamers.

I recently got a saltwater aquarium as a surprise from my husband upon my return from Hawaii, and I was thrilled to find a Picasso Triggerfish, but am concerned because a friend who lives and dives in Hawaii says they are almost on the endangered list. Is this true?

The Picasso Triggerfish (also called the Lagoon) primarily live in Lagoons and its predators are mostly larger triggerfish and then obviously man. I can't find anything that says they are close to being endangered. If a species or a breed goes on an endangered list - then usually it is adressed as a problem and a group or organization will do what they can to make sure it is not endangered. It doesn't always work but so far much luck with it. However, I see nothing where it is endangered. It is a beuatiful fish - enjoy it. Congratulations

I have a blue triggerfish and it digs holes so what i would suggest to stop the digging is don't put sand or dirt on the floor of the aquarium so there will be nothing to scratch at.

I had an undulated with a yellow tang, a lion fish and a very fast damsel. When the trigger got mad he would actually change colors, kind of an electric blue striped brown color. And I swear when he got really mad he would grunt or bark at the other fish. I called him cave boy because he only came out to kill something. I eventually returned him for a huma, much better tank mate.

I got a 5-6"ondulatus trigger! He ate a 6" panther grouper,5" niger,4'5" picasso! He's a beautiful KILLER! They were in a 75 gallon tank! Got along all together for about 2 years till one day he decided to be alone! Within a week he ate the other fish! He's been alone for about six months now! I'm working on getting a nice size lion fish! Can't wait.

Yes i agree with you , my picasso does his laps back and forth my 100 gallon aquarium after he is done with his meal. A happy and funny fish alright, thinks he is a watchdog or something. Bwahhaha. . . Best fish ever.

I just bought a undulate along with a blue tang. They are about the same size and seem to get along so far. I also have a snowflake eel and they are funny to watch. My undulate has kind of set the tone for what's "his," but now has settled in. I am hoping if I keep him well fed it will keep his aggression under control. I did not know that they were very aggressive fish until after I bought him. So we shall see how it works outs.
