I have the Atlantic Blue Tang, have had since a baby. He is starting to turn blue. I love him. I also have a Sailfin and Blonde Naso tang in the same tank. They get along so well.

I have to remove my sailfin tang any time i add a new fish to my 210 gallon. i have to put him in the isolation tank for at least two weeks before i put him back into the 210... or he will bully the new fish to death. I do not put anything in the tank under about 8 inches because of the lionfish, panther grouper and large puffers... all full grown.

The fact that you have several foot-long or more fish (that panther'll be close to 2 feet) in a 2-foot wide tank should be more of a problem then whether the supposed- least dominant fish in your tank acts up at new introductions...

I have Dean's above and they are great. I have a pair 12 inches plus, good with all fish. They eat like pigs though so expect to spend a lot on food. Mine have a whole sheet of nori a day each, and frozen and pellets.

purchased a Blue Hippo Tang, had nothing but trouble with ich and it infested all my other fish, best cure we found for this was to get rid of the Hippo and the problem it brings to your aquarium !!

I love dory! =) They are so pretty and and amazing fish! I have this inside joke with my friend chris, since I've hit my head so many times like dory. he calls me that all the time! It can be annoying, but I don't mind cuz dory is such a cool fish!

I purchased one that the LFS marked down because they had it in a tank full of yellow tangs that were beating it up. It acclimated quickly and swims all over the place in my tank. Not aggressive at all like some other tangs can be. Grazes the rocks and eats pellets, flake, froze and veg/algae sheets no problem. I wanted a Kole Tang before finding this one and I am glad I got this guy instead. Great fish!

Did you get an answer only my blue tang is doing the same could you please let me know if you did so I can understand why he is doing this.
    Many thanks.

Mine was doing the scratch thing and then I noticed that he had white spots and injuries from scratching. I fed the whole tank food soaked in garlic flavor enhancer because I heard that the white spots were probably ich. anyway, They(spots) disappeared and the fish are healthy. My blue no longer scratches anymore either. Good luck!

White spot, try using a uv filter this will help/ stop.
  • Alex - 2011-01-12
You might have ich disease see if she has white spots if so buy medicine and a water change.
  • ces - 2011-02-14
I have watched my tang do the same thing. She/he would bang against the rocks and eventually knock something off of it. She would then promptly eat what ever she knocked off.

Wow I think you should of read up on the regal tang before you bought one they live on brine mysis and such. Why would you feed it goldfish food? Next time learn about the animal and then buy it.
