Hi I'm Michael from Malaysia. Bought a 5in Lopez Tang from LFS for US$12 after the Tang was shown eating pellets. Doing extremely well in my tank and started eating day after. mixing well with my Yellow tang and Sailfin tang. Very peaceful and has a great appetite...... highly recommended !

I have had my tank for about two months now, so the guy at my fish store suggested I buy a hardy fish that I like. I chose a baby yellow tang that I like. He was about 30.00. I named him Alage because he loves the alage I feed him. {my blue damsels are named Bluey and Bob} He is a very nice fish. I just got him and I can hand feed him algae! He gets along with Bluey and Bob fine. My dad and I love our yellow tang! {P.S, please read my comment on my damsels if you want too.}

update from 1/1/05

Achilles is still doing well, and has been transferred in to a new 300 gal tank. I attribute my success with this tang to chaotic water flow from both a oceans motions 8 way and a tunze wavebox. I also believe that having a rapid sump turnover rate is beneficial for keeping the water well oxygenated. I had a bout with ich with this tang, and instead of removing it, i kept up on water changes and feed selcon enriched or zoe enriched norri. infection was gone within a month. This tang is also kept with 3 other tangs, all of different genius: Blonde naso, bristletooth tominii, and A desjardini sailfin.

My best tips for keeping this species are thus: Handle delicately, feed often, and most important of all, find a healthy fish from the get go.

i have bought 3 sohal tangs in 3months my first one was 8inches and was very peaceful and didnt attack any new tank mates after he was in so the water must of been good to keep him happy and well fed. my second one was 8inches and he was very aggressive as soon as he was put in. my 3rd one was 12 inches and was very peaceful and didnt attack a 1inch mandarin and a 3inch collared butterflyfish which was totally incredible. one gie in a shop in scotland and i am in southampton, thought i was just lucky.

The Sohal tang adds a very interesting movement to the tank as well as being just plane stunning. Mine is housed with 2 purple tangs, 2 bicintus clowns, 30 green chromis, and a Red Sea sailfin tang. All are happy. The tank is a 130 gallon tank with a 115 gallon sump, a 75 gallon purge and a 35 gallon purge system. I have about 100#s of live rock in the sump and about 150#s in the tank itself. The unique movement of the Sohal coupled with its beauty add quite a bit to the tank.
