I have a bamboo shark and I have found that they dont work well when you are feeding them when they are among other fish. (they tend to get greedy)

Do not feed a saltwater shark...thats really expensive... disease ridden, non-nutritious goldfish! i can guarantee you will lose your shark the second you put a bad batch of goldfish in there. buy ghost shrimp and put some vita-chem in the bag so they absorb it, that way they can have some healthy substance. Do yourself a favor and read the book they advertise. There you will also find how to tell the sexual difference in your shark. I have a little girl, who loves her healthy and frozen squid mixed with vita-chem so she lives a long time. Please people do research before you buy! for the fishes/sharks sake.

The sexual difference is easy to tell. Look at the "tags" around the anal...females have 2. I have a female who is beautiful, also do not feed them live food! trust me! Feeder fish are just swimming with disease, there is also no nutritional value, its the equivilent to popcorn. Feed frozen silversides, tiger shrimp, krill, and put some vita-chem on it. The life of your shark will be much longer!

Brown banded cat shark (bamboo). I currently have a 22inch one, a male. You can tell by the claspers underneath the bottom two back fins, females don't have them. Mine currently lives with a picasso trigger. No problems at all. A bit agressive, or should we say eager, when feeding. Currently housed in a 150 gallon tank with a pf600 skimmer. Thinking of adding a big sump to increase water volume along with live rock, system works well. Hope this short piece helps. mikey birmingham(ENGLAND)

I am head aquarist at The Fountain Hotel where we have a 1000 gallon marine tank. We have recently acquired a blue spotted ray and he really is a very nice looking fish. He will share the tank with a Bamboo Cat-Shark, who has just laid six egg cases, four yellow sailfin tangs, a Naso Tang, a Lion Fish and my biggest head-ache a Sgt. Major Damsel fish. He attacks just about everything, except our shark, and has avoided all attempts at capture. Back to the drawing board.

We have had Lonnie for 3 1/2 years. She has been a wonderful addition to our aquarium and our lives. Although she is a fish, she is very smart, will eat out of our hands, and responds to her name. I would very highly recommend this species to anyone.

We just got a brown banded bamboo shark. It is young. It likes to dig in the sand. It swims a lot through out the tank, but it likes to stay at the bottom.
