We also have a cowfish called Charlie - only had him for a few months but already he's the main attraction in the tank! He eats out of your hand and if you go into the other room, he squeezes into one corner of the tank so he can actually still see you - we end up back in the other room to keep him company! Saw the comment about petting him - hmmm I'll have to give that a try! It's like having a 'puppy in a tank'. His latest trick is to annoy my boxer shrimp by swimming up to him really close... the shrimp then runs at him - he races off all excited then goes back and does it again!

I have had my porcupine puffer for 3 months now and I love this fish. They are so much fun to watch, their personalities are fun. When he is hungry he will splash and follow you in the tank till you give him what he wants. I don't see him as an aggressive fish since he is fine with our sting ray, believe it or not they swill laps together.

Cowfishes are by far the coolest fish ever! We have one named helicopter that's been with us for 4 months, but already he has expressed himself to us. I've never seen a fish that actually has a personality. He is so brave and one can actually pet him. Yes he is great and does love to eat. He has parasites though, and doesn't let the cleaner wrasse or cleaner shrimp clean him. What should I do?

I love the porcupine fish because it is as cute as a puppy. I hope to have one in my tank. I think that my tank is just nice for him, in my tank I have a clownfish and a red tail file fish. I wish that my wish will come true.

Porcupine fish are cool. I have none but my teacher forced me to learn about them. My teacher is watching over us like a hawk and a fish.

I bought a porcupine puffer one day ago. I tried feeding him krilland formula 2, he justs ignores the food. Should I try feeding him by hand or another way.

Doug was a part of the family for four years. Just wanted to give you heads up as one other person did below. Doug's diet included only frozen shrimp and brine shrimp cubes and beefheart. The guys at my local trusted aquarium were always on me to feed him the frozen Krill. Finally thought I'd give it a try. Big mistake! I thawed 4 Krill and dropped them in Doug's tank. He ate them with the quickness as usual. Then went and layed in the sand like he does when he has finished eating. The problem is he never came back up. He was dead within 12 hours. The only thing that changed was that he ate some Krill. He lived 4 years without them. Bottom line, Puffers can do fine without Krill, and I would advise everyone not to try it! Just thought this could save your puffer!

Doug is my 3 year old Porcupine Puffer. He loves to be hand fed frozen shrimp. I would advise anyone to get one. He's a little messy and he ate my 9" Banded Snake Eel right in front of me. Overall a great fish! Lives with Naso and blue tang and butterfly and two maroon clowns.

Anyone with Puffers, do not only feed them freeze dried krill, it can kill them. I know, my last puffer died due to malnutrition. Check out the forum on Marine Depot for more information. Best of luck with your wet pet.
