Probably one of the hardiest anemone fish I ever had. Will tolerate high nutrient water; but that does not mean it is happy living in filth. Somewhat aggressive fish. If you are planning to add new fishes to your tank, be prepared for it to get chased. Otherwise, try to put this fish last on your list. SOME Cinnamon clown loves to dig, so people with DSB, be prepared!

Great fish for a beginner and does not require anemone to survive.

I have a breeding pair in my reef and has been laying eggs all year long, but just don't have the time or patience to try to raise them unfortunately.

What you can try to do is sell them or donate them. Try to know the Aquarium or person before you donate them. Frys (Clown fish babies) are REALLY hard to keep. But, you should at least keep one or two. Because if the adults die you have two more that grow up fast!

I have a sebae in my 110 gallon reef tank and he is the favorite fish of many people who come to see my tank because he is always swimming and trying to find food all day. He is very peaceful. Do not put it with fish that eat slowly because he eats very, very fast. It will try to eat every thing you just put in the tank. You can put it in a group of 2-3 with no problem if they are added at the same time. It goes in every (some exceptions) anemone. Defenitly it is the most beautiful clownfish to keep in the aquarium!

I just purchased a set of clown fish. I have a 110 gallon tank and wondered if anyone could tell me why they seem to always stay at the top of the tank?

    Hi Jami

I recently purchased 2 False Percula's which tend to stay around bottom 2/3rd of the tank which is normal for False variety, from what I have read in forums it seems quite normal as True Percs tend to prefer the top 2/3rd of the tank.

I may be wrong but I have come across similar threads while researching.
Wish you all the look with your new friends, if your like me I can't stop watching them, everyone thinks I'm a saddo.

The fish are probably just fearful and don't have a territory of their own. Set up a 65 gal tank 2 months ago. Lost some fish to ich until I set up a UV sterilizer. Now I have a fire clownfish who is doing great. I added another clownfish who took some shots from the fire clown but survived. The newer clown stayed on the top for one week then found an anemone to call home.

I have a female Percula Clown who sleeps at the top of my 55 gal. She hides in a fake log I put in my tank all day and at night, floats at the top. I'm told that clowns often do that. Also, the top of the tank is warmer than the bottom, maybe they just like it where it's warmer?

I have just bought my second clark clown fish but it seems to be flapping at the bottom of the tank and moving all the sand into a mound. It's only done this since I've switched the lights out. Is there a reason for this please

Clownfish love to dig and rearrange. Very normal behavior. Some say it could be away to mark their territory. If they are flapping at the bottom as if they are itchy, test your water right away.

Why don't you guys have a section for seahorses and pipefish? Some people might want one of those kind of fish. I put that up on the long nosed hawk fish yesterday but no respond back.

I apologize that you received no response. However, we are constantly working to better Animal-World, and those are pages we will certainly have to consider.

Yup... in the works means we have a Seahorse and Pipefish section being put together. It will also have a few others, like the Weedy Seadragon!

I really love these guys too, so can hardly wait!
