I am amazed reading all the comments about Dory! I must have gotten the "mean Dory" because she is nothing like the Dory in the Movie. I strongly believe that Dory is threatend by me because she came into the marriage via my husband one year ago. She HATES me and recently my husband bought me a tiny cute Dory (I named her DOLLY) so when he let her out into the tank, big Dory attacked her and chewed a good chunk of her tail. It is like Dory knew Dolly was mine and just took it out on her. So dolly is doing so much better now but Dory chases her and lets her know who is BOSS! Dory makes loud popping noises when she sees me and she loves to sleep! Wow. One day I clearly upset her and she got sick, spots and puffy eyes, my husband checked the 100 gallon aquarium and all was fine. So I have to be on my best behavior and not upset Dory. It is amazing. She runs the WHOLE aquarium! No joke. I love this fish despite her dislike for me and Dolly. She has a very unique character and they are beautiful!

You can not put two dory's in one tank. Trish

Blue tangs will most likely get agressive towards each other when put in the same tank, especially if they are both actually males (despite the girl names).

I have a 55 gal aquarium that I just went to from a 30 gal. The guy I bought it from had crushed shells and coral on the bottom so I left it. Now I wanted to go and get the scooter blenny that I have wanted so bad and was told no because it must have a sand bottom. Anyone out there that can tell me different?

Add a layer of live sand. I have mixed it before and my blennies did just fine. Really do not recommend removing crushed shells because you already have all the established colonies in your existing substrate.

I have just bought my second clark clown fish but it seems to be flapping at the bottom of the tank and moving all the sand into a mound. It's only done this since I've switched the lights out. Is there a reason for this please

Clownfish love to dig and rearrange. Very normal behavior. Some say it could be away to mark their territory. If they are flapping at the bottom as if they are itchy, test your water right away.

Heniochus black/white/yellow bannerfish/ butterflys elongated dorsal fin is losing the filament. Gray patches on banner. Fish not as active today and did not eat. Checked ammonia, nitrate, phosforus. All normal. I do 5 gallon water changes on 75 gal every other day. The fin still has half of the filament on and the other half is just a thin bare thread.

Just bought banner have 2 ins yellow tang there was small bully tactics by tang did not think it was bad just territory squable but 24hrs later no sign of banner could tang have killed the banner? My tank has about 158lbs of live rock so it could be a problem to strip it down to find him this is the first one lost.

Tangs are herbivores so they normally don't go after meat. It can happen but would be unusual - also your tang at 2 inches isn't very big yet and I don't think he could do something other than nip a banner -
158 pounds of rciks is a lot of rocks. The banner could be hanging out or possibly just got stuck. I think you will just have to wait and see. I doubt I would take 158 pounds of rcok out either.

I have a california stingray and my tank was going well with the stingray, one clownfish, two gobies and one royal gramma. I then went out and bought three green chromis. The stingray then killed two of them so I bought more and started feeding him more (two 1'' long krill or pieces of clam or silversides once a day) though he then killed the 2 new ones I bought. The chromis are the same size of the clownfish and he hasn't bothered my larger chromis or my clownfish. Should I feed him even more?

Sorry I meant it won't need more so you won't over feed it so separate them when possible.

Just like any fish, if you have the right aquarium setup your powder blue tang will not perish but flourish. Lots of live rock: 1.75 lbs - 2 lbs per gallon. And lots of current with wavemaker (my pbt loves to swim in the current) and enough protein skimming. Use two protein skimmers if you have to. Also, install a UV sterilizer. I purchased my 6 inch power blue fat and healthy and he/she is still fat and healthy. I consider this fish easy to care for if you do it right. My tang eats nori and bloodworms. my pbt has a ravenous appetite. i will introduce it new foods next week. if you do not follow my advice on how to keep a pbt, be prepared to be counted as one who had their pbt succumb to sickness and die.

Hello,

I am very interested in this wrasse. I cannot find this one for under $160. Can you help me find it at a lower price?

How do I treat heterodontus f. with parasites, like a copepodos? Do i use copper?

Horn sharks, like all species of sharks, are prone to parasites - with copepods being a regular. If there are only a few copepods, you can carefully remove them with tweezers. If there is a more intense infestation, they can be treated with freshwater or formalin dips. Formalin has been reported as successful at some aquariums. Organophosphate pesticides are also suggested by some, they are sold under various names including Masoten, Dylox, and Neguvon. But there are varying opinions both for and against treating with this pesticide.

Do not treat with any medications containing copper compounds or dye solutions.

Handling is perhaps the biggest cause of shark deaths and can be very hazardous to both the person and the shark. They often do poorly when treated, often due to handling. The sharks thrash around causing internal damage as well as skin damage. So be very careful when handling.

Some tips to move your shark into a treatment tank are: use a 'soft' treatment tank like a styrofoam box, wear gloves, carefully scoop it into a large plastic bag, then carefully transfer it into the treatment tank.

The fish in the photo is not a wrasse, but a species of Pentapodus (family Nemipteridae). Editor's note: Thanks, we'll look into this... Anyone have a picture of the King Coris wrasse?
