These horses are so fun to ride and watch in the show ring! The way they pick up their feet so high is amazing!

    They have a unique walk to them and are very comfortable to ride. Narrower an the walk and smooth. Not exactly sure what you mean by hind quarters own? Tucked?
  • Charlie Roche - 2012-01-27
    I did some research on hindquarters on a walk in a horse and any of the material I found said that some horses can be 'trained' to walk with the hindquarters lower or tucked but it is a training. It is not a natural thing and in fact will disrupt the natural gait of the horse. It is used fo show, tricks and is not a natural gait for a horse and if the horse appears to naturally walk like this, there is probably something wrong. On this note, vets went into breathing in the abdomen and the side to side gait and why it is there etc and it was over my head on the terms. Regardless, anything I could find said not natural for hindquarters to be own.

I live in the Pilbara, in Western Australia would a Haflinger be able to take the hot weather here? It gets up to 45degrees nearly every day in summer, coldest is around 18degrees in winter. thanks :)

    I don't know why not as I think horses are pretty flexible with weather changes. I live in a desert, and there are all sorts of breeds kept by people here.

The above given information is not quite 100% true. I don't have any doubt that Francesca Kelly and Raghuvendra Singh are trying to promulgate and promote the Marwari breed. But we know this breed from 1973 and we are keeping them like Marwari This breed was made for War's so they are hot blood but they are Very Friendly horses they enjoy ridding and they love to travel long distance so people call them an Endurance Horse. They are very good Jumpers also But due to they hot mind rider needs a lot of patience to trained them for Jumping or Dressage. But they are very intelligent horses so they always try to use they own mind during time of schooling. Gaurav Joshi (World Youngster Trick Rider,National Champion Endurance Rider)

Could someone please tell me if TBs(thoroughbreds) or WBs (warmbloods) are better show jumpers, and who are better all-rounders? Thank-you, Olivia

  • Ms. Jeffi - 2012-01-27
    I think WBs are slightly better jumpers but they both make good all rounders. This is just from my own experiences though...
  • Charlie Roche - 2012-01-27
    If I understand the info correctly the throughbreds are bred from defined warmbloods for specific sport whether racing or jumping so I would go on the basis of what the actual pony is bred for. Thoughbreds are normally bred for a sport. All rounders in handling riding personality is dependent on ancestry and breeding. Easier to judge by the parental linage. Hope this helps.
  • Anonymous - 2012-01-28
    WBs=jumpers TBs=all-rounders
  • ed - 2012-02-15
    I am not sure on on who might be the better jumper but I now my throughbred trusts me and he would jump any thing I would ask him to and he would cross any river. I would hope I would know his limits.
  • shaby - 2012-08-20
    this is my opinion is that wb are better at show jumping and tbs are better at rounder
  • Anonymous - 2013-04-27
    TBs are often crossed with Irish Draughts to make Irish Sport Horses which are excellent all rounders and fantastic jumpers.
