Yes, the Appaloosa can be very adept at barrel racing. Barrel racing is a sport that became part of rodeos to show off the skills of cattle horses. These horses are able to turn very sharply when needed  (and maintain speed) for herding cattle.  Although the quarter horse is the breed usually identified with this, the Appaloosa can be very competitive. Some say they are a bit harder to train, but others ademantely dispute that claim.

I have a two year old and she is the love of my life. She is so sweet and loving to me. However when I'm not around people say she always bites or kicks them but she never does when I'm around. She also has social issues because where I bought her from she was kept in a round pen for her life. How can I solve her issues? I also heard having two year olds are dangerous and unpredictable especially Appaloosa's. I do not want to sell her shes my baby ♥ any advice?

What a great horse to have! It sounds like you have a good relationship with her. Don't have any ideas about her social issues, but I'm not sure that it matters how she is with others unless you have to make sure they have a good relationship with her too. As she is young, it may be that she needs time for adjustment and to know what to expect in her home. Good luck.

Arabians are what we call hard keepers. Because of their high indurance levels and energy, they burn off fat fast. I have to feed my 25+ Arabian/Quarter 4/flakes a day about 24 #s. Also Integrity for seniors. They also have Integrity for young horses. If they loose weight it takes 6 months to a year to get it back. A rice bran product can help put weight on qiucker.

In March 2010 we rescued a beautiful 18 month Percheron filly from possibly going to slaughter. With proper nutrition she has grown up and filled out. A breeder has looked at her and said she appears to be well bred and very nicely put together. All that and she is an absolute sweetheart! She will be heading to a training facility in January 2011 to start her driving training.

Gaurav Joshi - 2009-04-01
The above given information is not quite 100% true. I don't have any doubt that Francesca Kelly and Raghuvendra Singh are trying to promulgate and promote the Marwari breed. But we know this breed from 1973 and we are keeping them like Marwari This breed was made for War's so they are hot blood but they are Very Friendly horses they enjoy ridding and they love to travel long distance so people call them an Endurance Horse. They are very good Jumpers also But due to they hot mind rider needs a lot of patience to trained them for Jumping or Dressage. But they are very intelligent horses so they always try to use they own mind during time of schooling. Gaurav Joshi (World Youngster Trick Rider,National Champion Endurance Rider)
