I have an 8 year old male who is not only beautiful but highly sensitive and a quick learner. He wants to please me and it shows in his training. He is my best friend and I cherish spending time with this curious steed. Extremely sound. I am having saddle fit problems because of his unusual body. Could use some advise on what others use.

The Iberian Warmblood horse is one of my favorites, I'm so happy for you to have this breed. There are 2 things that are considered when choosing a saddle size/measurement. The obvious first one is that the saddle fits you. So like if the saddle is a '16' saddle', that means it has a 16' seat. So you sit in different seat sized saddles and find one that's comfortable for you.

The other maesurement is the 'tree size' of the saddle itself. The tree determines both the width and length of the saddle, and so how it fits the horse. You will want to get one based on how wide the back of our horse is. They come in three tree sizes: narrow, medium, and wide, as well as being custom made. Skinny horses need a narrow, many horses fit a medium, but often big warmblood breeds (and little round ponies) need wide trees.  It really depends on your horse, good luck:)

I'm lucky enough to live near great numbers of Mustang horses.:) My 'favorite' is a bay Appaloosa with a white blanket, black spots on his rump, and dull gray circles around each and every spot. I dubbed him Murky. Today, I got to pet a Mustang, too. They're really beautiful animals, indeed.

I recently purchased my first horse at 54 yrs old. I have been around many horses and a variety of riding practices. After all these years i've waited to purchase my 'perfect' horse for me. As i approach my gold years i chose the 'morgan' for its overall sweet disposition, smarts. I have found the 'morgan breed' to have a consistency of alertness without the spook or quirky indulgences many horses test you with. The mare i purchased is 20 yrs. Old going on 7! What a prize and a joy indeed. I would recommend the morgan for any age trainer or rider. Morgans are strong beyond belief considering there overall smaller 14. 0 to 16. 0 h. Love my girl

Congratulations! I have a 21 years young Morgan gelding at home- I swear he thinks he's Seabiscuit at times. He's a great horse if a little spirited (my mom refuses to ride him) and I use him for trail riding and pleasure, which he has little patience for, and we barrel race. The thing he likes the most though is racing my friend's Arab- he can out run the Quarter Horses and Arabs that my friends have, though he's ten years older than the oldest horse. I have never been more impressed with a horse's spirit before I met my Ben four years ago. You made a great choice in picking a Morgan. Happy Trails!

My mom and I are looking to buy a friesian horse and I know they are relatively prone to colic...What would anyone suggest for a healthy, balanced diet for a friesian? I've been searching on the internet but it's come up with so many different supplements and feeds that I cannot decide which is best for my horse.

Absent any statistical proof, I'm not sure I agree that Friesians are any more prone to colic than any other breed. I do all I can to keep my Friesians healthy - plenty of turnout (12+ hours per day or 24/7), free choice grass hay (the closer to organic, the better and don't limit! If your horse is getting fat, they need more exercise, not less hay!), automatic waterers (to ensure they are getting fresh, not stagnant water), lots of exercise to promote hunger and keep weight off, herd companionship, regular worming, pick your pastures and paddocks (yes, I do, every week), and I only use one feed supplement that I strongly believe in - Progressive Feed. I use the Grass Balancer. Any vitamins or minerals that are missing in the grass or hay I am feeding, are covered by that supplement. NO OTHER SUPPLEMENTS - avoid toxicity. Take a look at www.prognutrition.com They are the best, and believe me, I've researched ad nauseum. Good luck! Put your horse first and remember - one of the biggest ways to cause colic is to limit feed. Keep the gut moving at all times!

My horse sound just like your does, I think I gave him too much wormer that has been 3 mo ago and he is just now starting to put on weight. I have talk to a old time horse trainer he said some horse will loss weight get sick. I too had a vet out and no luck it was just time and good care I hope your horse get better I hope this will help.

    Hi
I'm breeding Friesians since 18 years and we very, very seldom had colic problems. These horses don't need lots and any special food. If they are not working hard every day,-they only have to get a good grass timo. mixture hay. Never ever overfeed them ! Their bodies don't need that much food like other hose breeds. To much protein will give them the problems, like colics and laminitis or founder. No moldy hay ,lots of room to move around, some four-legged friends and lots of love.
