I love this horse! My mom bought me 2, a female and a male. They had ponies... they were so cute! I love these horses!

Uh, baby horses are called foals...not ponies....
  • Anonymous - 2010-10-23
If you don't know that a male=a stallion or gelding, and a female is a mare... And that babies are foals... You really shouldn't have a mating pair... Even though these guys are really sweet and wonderful... Stallions are...well, stallions...

Maddy, why did your mom get you a 'stallion' amd a 'mare'? If you what to breed Shires or any horses, NEVER get a stallion (unless you are a proper horse breeding stud) If you are desperate to breed your own foal, get only a mare that is over 3 years old then, get a stallion at stud to breed your mare. Hope you like the foal(s) you bred. Also, I would recommend that you sell your stallion for your sake and his. By the way: baby horses are called Foals NOT ponies!

You really don't have to be so RUDE to her, maybe she is only 10 and just learning about horses.

I am 12 and I've been riding for 5 years. I know what a stallion, mare, colt, filly and gelding is. If you can buy 2 horses as easily as that, and breed them, you need to learn some stuff

I have loved horses forever because I think the horse is the most beautiful creature God ever created. I have had the pleasure of loving two (Tennessee Walkers) but then got married, had jobs/children, etc., and could not devote the time and energy a horse deserves; had to sell both which broke my heart but they went to good loving people who appreciated them and treated them well. I live in the country and have already told my husband the first thing I am doing when I retire is to get an Arabian because that has always been my dream horse and I intend to participate in endurance trials. There, you have one of my life's dreams.

I started at age one with my father holding my ankle and have loved Shetlands and then horses for my 83 years. Our ponies were black with white markings, and I never saw other colors until today near El Paso, Texas: two of the sweetest little bay ponies with flaxen tails!

If you walk behind a Clydesdale you will see that its back legs are perfectly straight and not 'cow hocked'. They are said to be 'close behind' and they walk with one huge back hoof placed exactly in front of the other, just as if they were still walking along a single ploughed furrow.

The Knabstrup is a very old breed, but very new in the United States. I think the first registry here was accomplished in 2001. check out this website, the American Knabstrupper Association, for more information.

I have just added a Arabian x Percheron, 19 yr, old, gelding. I have to say that he is the most handsome horse I have seen and most websites don't say that they are good at dressage, but my horse is. It may be the arabian side of him.
