My 4 month old long coat Sebastian is getting bad dandruff. The vet had told me to use oatmeal shampoo on him but now I am wondering if there is something else I should use. Does anyone suggest anything?

I have a 11 year old female chihuahua and she had surg. Had two spots removed and most of her teeth. She doesn't want to eat much, because she has congested heart and she takes 1/2 water pills 4 times and day and 1/2 a heart pill. She has had most of her teeth pulled. Is there something I can give her to boost her immune system and what food?

Just a thought... but puree your dogs food! Then all she has to do is lick up her food. I would buy a can/pouch of "wet" dog food, you may have to add a little water when you blend it.

Feed her canned food, feed her really good for seniors, ask at a pet store for holistic dog food.

I purchased a puppy thinking it was a morkie (maltese / yorkie). Since purchasing her we have fallen so in love with her. She has a wonderful personality - very independent and strong willed. I didn't see the morkie qualities in her and asked my vet what he thought she is and he said a long haired chihuahua. She sheds pretty badly and that is one quality I did not want. I can't get rid of her now that she is a family member. Do you have any suggestions what to do about the shedding?

Me and my family got a 6 week old chihuahua. He is the sweetest little thing. He gets freaked out if people he dosen't know pet him. He likes his belly rubs and is very playful. We are recently potty training him. We feed him a non salted greenbean every now and then, it is said to be good for the dog. Any tips on potty training?

Best thing you can do is crate train your dog look on web site for crate training. I have a 8 month old and a 5 month old both doing great on crate training and I also have an exercise pen inside I keep them in when I can't watch them in the house.

Hum you need to make a loud almost at at at sound every time she barks say it and then say no, barking it is a repetitive thing you will have to do for a while or try to use a can empty soda can and put coins in it every time she barks shake it near her and tell her no barking.

My long haired chihuahua is shedding excessively! She has never shed like this, her hair is everywhere. I brush and the hair just keeps on coming. I could brush one area a number of times and just keeps getting lots of hair. She has no bald spots or anything.

Try Salmon Oil. Usually, most animals should not have 'excessive' shedding. Supplementing with oil will immediately remedy this (and increase the sheen of their coat).

My 5 yr old chi shed excessively when I first got him, the vet told me to add flax seed oil to his diet, I did this and can't believe the improvement.

There is a shampoo at wal mart for shedding.

You need to maybe change her food I am a chihuahua breeder and I feed my dogs Natural Balance it has limited ingredients and I find my dogs shed less it comes in dry and can food and you can only buy it in a pet store the supermarket will not have it.

I had my long hair chihuahua 3 days,
she just had her first litter of puppys,
her owner had to move and could not keep her, sold the puppys,
she is having a change in her life at this time, I want it to be easy as possible for her.
I have 2 more puppys 1 full blooded poodle and a mix breed poodle, they are all small dogs.
Any advice on how to help her and feed her, make her as comfortable as we can?

I have a one year old black and tan chihuahua named Coco Puff. I brought her home when she was 8 weeks old and introduced her to my Beagle, Chow/Shepherd and German Shepherd right away. They were taught from the beginning that they must be gentle with her and she loves them all. At bedtime and when no humans are home, she is confined to the upstairs and the others are kept downstairs just so there is no unsupervised excitement where she might get squished by accident. She is quiet and gentle and loving and playful. I plan to go through certification to have her be a visiting therapy dog for the elderly or ill.

I have a long haired chihuahua and he is amazing. He's a little over a year old. He's quiet and well behaved, although he's found his voice when he may feel he's protecting his owner, or maybe he just wants to be heard. When I first got him he hid and ran from people a lot, now I have him out walking almost everyday and he loves going "Bye Bye". He's come a along way since first getting him, learning fairly quickly. They make wonderful pets and I'd love to get another one.
