I live in Fl. and have 2 chihuahuas at this time. My third was born yesterday. All females. Chiquita is 14 yrs old and as active as when she was a puppy. She is long haired. Cookie, short haired and is 8 mos old and full of energy. Twice as active as the older dog ever was. She is very fearful of people, running for my lap as they appear. The newborn is long haired and I can't wait to see her. She is in Ohio. My daughter has male and female long haired pair. I will be getting her in May. Can't wait. I will never have another breed. These suit me just fine. Love em. The baby is all white except for black rings around the eyes. Does this sound like "Panda" or what?

My family is very fortunate to have a wonderful, 2-year old long-haired Chihuahua named Roscoe. Roscoe is lively, loves to play, and adores members of our family. He is very friendly to adults in our home, but fearful of strangers and children. He loves curling up on a lap for a nap and belly rub. My question is this: our vet recently completed a chem panel on Roscoe that shows he has elevated liver enzymes. She looked back over his records and found that these values have been slightly elevated, even when he was neutered at six months. Has anyone encountered a similar situation with their beloved pet?

Had this issue with 2 maltese which was discovered as puppies. Never developed into anything. Common in smaller breeds. Elected to monitor their diet and selected dry food with lower fat content to reduce wear and tear on their livers etc. in the processing of nutrients.

I have a six month old male long haired Chihuahua, Bryce. I have no idea how people can say the breed is mean. He loves everyone and even stays out of the cat's way. ( to her the dog is a pest) but he is so sweet. Don't listen to the stereotype. He's an angel.

I also have a male long haired chihuahua, age 2. He's nothing but sweet. He's scared of everybody, so I agree with you, not all chihuahuas are mean.

My family has a five year old long-haired chihuahua and he's very loving to all of the members of the family, however, he does not like strangers right away and does not get along well with young children. I suspect if raised with them he might (most children are brats who pull at his tail and get in his face without taking warning to his growls so a nip serves them right) but as it is now it's better just to keep him away from them. He is a wonderful watch dog and very protective of the house and us. He is adorable and quite large for a chihuahua (around 8-12 lbs) depending on the part of the year. The vet has never had a problem with this, he's just big for the breed. He loves to play and is very excitable, sometimes it might cause him to wheeze slightly.

I must warn you that this breed is very jealous and we had to get rid of our cat for this reason. (The cat simply went from purring and loving us to sulking, and for good reason I think. I still feel sorry for him.) Regardless he is very cute and I think the breed provides long companionship for those wanting it.

I have a year and a half year old male long-haired Chihuahua named Riley. He is the sweetest dog I have ever known. He is a great guard dog because he hears everything! He has two big sisters, a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Sadie and a Catahoula named Dallas. They are so gentle with him and absolutely adore him. He is very scared of small children and runs from them. (that is the only bad thing I can think about him) I think that Long-haired Chihuahuas are best suited for individuals who have no children and are looking for a doggie companion. They require a lot of attention and just want to be with you always. I love my little man!

I recently had a beautiful male Long-haired Chihuahua, fawn colored and what an amazing companion he was. He was taken from me recently by an ex-fiance, I did purchase him for her and he was in her name so it goes without saying, he belonged to her and would never tear him away. However I am looking for a breeder and soon. Would anyone have any information at all on this dog as I am missing him so very much it hurts. Please can anyone point me in the right direction? Money is no object, however the bloodline is very important to me. I'd love to hear from anyone on this subject, please, please respond. This is not an easy breed to find, and I am just really heartbroken over all of this. Breakups are bad enough, to lose an amazing dog like the one I had is down right killer.

Thank you all very much for listening,
Eric Martin

My 12 year old son and myself are flying to Sacramento to pickup Foxy and bring her home to our beach cottage.. Check her web site by the same name. Good luck Ted

Try looking on Craigs lists. Here is another link that might help. I don't know where you live but if you are too far away I am sure she could recommend somebody in your area.

He loves to play fetch, he is so smart, I had him since he was 3 weeks old, He does hide and run from my 5 yr old daughter, But when we come home he's always happy to see my 5 yr daughter. My Daughter just loves him! And he loves her.

Hello I am VERY interested in this chihuahua and was wondering if you could send him to Los Angeles, CA
  • shelley - 2010-11-08
Beware of sending a dog to anywhere across country they are scams and will use dogs for fighting or testing if you find some one far away ask to speak on phone with them and I guarantee they will never want to do this I had problems with scammers when trying to place a Rottweiler they may also use your info for credit scams.

My 4 month old long coat Sebastian is getting bad dandruff. The vet had told me to use oatmeal shampoo on him but now I am wondering if there is something else I should use. Does anyone suggest anything?

I have a 11 year old female chihuahua and she had surg. Had two spots removed and most of her teeth. She doesn't want to eat much, because she has congested heart and she takes 1/2 water pills 4 times and day and 1/2 a heart pill. She has had most of her teeth pulled. Is there something I can give her to boost her immune system and what food?

Just a thought... but puree your dogs food! Then all she has to do is lick up her food. I would buy a can/pouch of "wet" dog food, you may have to add a little water when you blend it.

Feed her canned food, feed her really good for seniors, ask at a pet store for holistic dog food.

I purchased a puppy thinking it was a morkie (maltese / yorkie). Since purchasing her we have fallen so in love with her. She has a wonderful personality - very independent and strong willed. I didn't see the morkie qualities in her and asked my vet what he thought she is and he said a long haired chihuahua. She sheds pretty badly and that is one quality I did not want. I can't get rid of her now that she is a family member. Do you have any suggestions what to do about the shedding?

Brewers yeast tablets worked very well for our dogs. Ask your vet about it.
