My little Chihuahua was only 3-4 weeks old when my daughter bought her. They sold her as a teacup, then when she got her home and put her down she couldn't walk and had no teeth, so she decided to take her to the Vet. That's when she found out her true age. So she fed her with a syringe until she was big enough to eat soft food. That was 3 years ago, she gave her to me 2 1\2 years ago and we are as close as we can be, she's my baby.

Okay so in the message it says beef is not recommended for a chihuahua and poultry is better but my chihuahua is really allergic to poultry, like chicken and turkey. Should I try switching him over to chicken or should I keep him on beef?

If he is allergic to chicken I wouldn't switch him over to it! It might be a good idea to ask a vet what the optimal diet would be for him.

I have an applehead, Molly, I have had her for about 3 wks. My niece had to find her another home, because her landlord didn't allow pets in the house. I am still learning Molly's ways. I am having trouble with Molly using the outdoors for her has become attached to me, my mom; my son. Mom is too old to take her out, so my son or I will take her. She has let me know one time that she had to go. We love her dearly, but how do I house break her? Molly is 2 yrs. old.

You can try and crate train her which would prevent her from going in the home and then reward her when she goes outside. Some have had good luck with the wee wee padds and placing them by the door you take her out of. Then move the wee wee pad outside. The idea is to watch her and prevent her from going inside. Crate works and is a safe place. If you see her going in circles and sniffing, grab her and get her outside.

I just got mine at around 5 weeks ago. She is the love of my life! She's almost housebroken & learned yesterday to dance on hind legs for a treat. But I rewarded her with a treat ( very small) every time she went potty outside. But have to watch for signs. She still has a few accidents but just a few. I've never had such a smart dog!

I live in AZ and it is relatively warm, but I still trained Rose to pads. She'll go outside when the weather is good, but in the cold, or at night she uses the pads. Chihuahuas are prone to hypothermia. In cold environments they should use pads.

Lilly is still a very active and smart chichi. I think that she thinks that we are her pets. LOL She loves people, but hates dogs. Her first pet cat has since passed away and her Lovebird, but she now plays with her Siamese Angora cat named Summer Sugar. Lilly barks at her when I scold the cat, and is like her older sister. She loves to try and catch Anoles and barks at squirrels and birds. Loves her toys, small and big. Even plays hide and go seek. Great little dog, big heart.

WOW! How wonderful is my Noots. He is a apple head chawawa. After reading your reading the information on feeding him... I must change his food. I wondered why he was getting so fat so quickly. He is only 1 year old. Ceasars dog food is NOT good for him. So....Noots is only getting brown rice and a little chicken from now on. I wonder how to get rid of the dark half moon developing under his seems crusty?

My daughter has a 2 1/2 pound mixed pup and she swears by the wee wee pads.  I have always had good luck with hanging the leash on the door knob.  When the pup has to go to the potty, they would play with the leash.  People say remove water and food after 8.  If they look like they are looking for  place to go - get them out quickly.  1/2 hour after eating and when they wake up.  All will work out - but sure takes patience.

I HAAATE the wee wee pads. That teaches them to go inside. Its also a sure sign of someone who is too lazy to do the work of taking them out regularly when you're traing them. Small dogs are quick learners and they don't usually like to go anywhere near their home. That's why they usually like to go into a neighbors yard. there's my 2 cents. dave
