I just purchased a Chug pup. She is 10 weeks old. I am trying to train her to go outside to do her business. I am finding this to be very hard. how long does it usually take to train them?

My husband and I have a friend staying with us due to divorce. It's okay HE IS GREAT, EX NOT SO MUCH. Anyhow, he is working out of town this week and this is my first time with his dog. My family also has a cocker/poodle who is 10 yrs old. She is also still peppy for her age. My pup tries to share toys and all which is great. But I was wondering, how do I help Lo Lo stop having gas? Also, would like to know how to make Lo Lo feel more comfortable in the house. I also have an 8 yr old child who loves them both. Any answers about the situation would be great because the dogs are so cute together. But want new pup to be feeling safe.

What type of food are you feeding him? Just changing to a higher quality food type can help improve gas. To help him feel more comfortable, just give him time! If he's already playing with your other dog and your child, he is probably well on his way to feeling comfortable! :)

I have an adorable little chug girl, and I am very anxious on spaying her because I have heard a lot of stories about smaller dogs not doing as well in surgery. Has anyone had complications or should I really have nothing to worry about? :)

I adopted a 10 month old Chihuahua Pug from the humane society about a year ago. She was there for almost a month, and I could not figure out why someone wouldn't have gotten her already! She was discounted for her size, as she was only 8 pounds, and there was no picture of her. I went to the humane society...the second I picked her up, I fell in love. She walked like a ballerina and kept checking over her shoulder to make sure I was still with her when I walked her. Then I held her for about 10 minutes and she actually hung on to me! Just hooked her little paws right through my shirt and over my shoulder. Precious. She was very easy to potty train and is very intelligent--she is also funny and likes messing around with me! She gets so happy and excited whenever I am with her or give her a treat--and she is so well behaved! I highly recommend a Pugwawa for anyone looking for a dog. She is small and compact, so easy to transport, but is gentle and calm, and does excellently with young children. She doesn't bite or snap, and her bark (which is very deep and throaty, not yappy like a Chihuahua) is something I only hear when there is someone at the door or if she sees a mouse. Very smart dog, alert and kind. She is very loyal, and now that I have her trained where the potty pen is, will scratch at the bottom of the door or my shoes when she has to go out. I open the door, let her out, and a few minutes later, there will be the scratching again! Best doggie in the world. I love her!

I lost my Doxie, a rescue, after 13 years, to cancer and thought I would never get another dog....wrong! 3 months later my granddaughter made me go to the local KILL shelter, 'just to look at the dogs' and we came away with what turned out to be a Chion. He was on 'special', it was his last day before euthanasia and since I am a senior I only paid $25 for him. OMG! He won my heart immediately. It's now been 6 months and I can't believe how much joy he has brought to me....and my granddaughter, of course!

You could try crate training her. It can help as dogs won't soil their crate because that's where they sleep. Crate training can be used to help teach them control.

I rescued my chion from the SPCA when he was eight months old. His previous owners decided he was 'untrainable' after abusing him. He is now 18 months and the best dog I've ever had. Within a month he was fully pad-trained, walks without a leash, hardly barks. He is the sweetest, most spoiled little puppy I've met and my favourite cuddler. However, due to his past, he is terrified of most men and all strangers. He also has serious abandonment issues and cries when left alone. A dog, especially a small one, needs a lot of time and love. Please don't get a chion if you don't plan to treat it with the sweet caring heart that he/she will treat you with.

Hi I just adopted a female dog. That appears to be a long haired chihuahua. But I suspect she may have some papillion cause her ears are more angles than straight like a chihuahua. My email is mandiluv23@gmail.com I can email pictures of her I just would like to know if I have one of these wonderful babies also. She weighs about 10 lbs but is a little overweight.

I just got a 6 week pug/chi, I am not sure how much to feed her and how often. She is so tiny I just want to hold her all the time. How often she I feed her at this age ?

Small breeds like chug puppies should be fed 3 times a day. Usually offer about a cup of puppy small breed food for each feeding (good ones are Eukanueba, Iams, and Hills Science Diet), but be sure to read and follow the suggestions on the bag for her weight. Also if she is built more like a Chihuahua rather than a pug, you may want to give her slightly less at each feeding to avoid weight problemes.

I live outside of Fort Worth. I have  chorkies, one a year old and three 2 years old. The older ones both parents were registered but I did not register them because I couldn't find papers on the dad. Mom was a blue deer leg chihuahua-very rare in color, dad was silver and black yorkie. I need to find homes for them because I now have too many. The younger one was sired by one of my males and is very unusual looking...he somehow came out with blue eyes.
