I agree. My italian greys love anything that don't get them first. I have 3 adults and 2, 4 month olds that I have the mom and pop too. I also have 1 rescue grey off the track. It is great to see my big male think he is their mama and hold them down to clean their ears. I have great fun with all my greys and they are the best dogs I have ever had. The 2 pups are a hand full at the present time but, will get better, would not trade them for anything.

My minature dachshund is having back problems. He's 4 years old and once every 6 months this had been happening to him. It's like he's paralyzed for about 5 min. He can't walk, falls over, has the shakes all over. His eyes are kind of in the back of his head. It only lasts about 5 min. What should I do how can i help him? All I can do is hold him tight and wait for it to pass. Help

I believe you should take the little guy to the vet. It sounds like seisures and there is medication.

Our SPIRIT, the human dog, as we call him is just over 9 years old. He is easily the best dog and friend anyone can ever have. He is smart but still laid back enough for our aging years. Great dog. Will never have any other kind.

Keep your greyhound on a leash.. My dog got off my wrist on accident and took off at 30 to 40 mph down the street out of sight... up 6 blocks one way and then back 1 mile the other direction down a 6 lane street. Many cars stopped to help me catch her. She was fine thank god, but her paws were raw and her nails down to the nerves. It was truly traumatizing to me and the dog. I now buckle her to my belt around my waist.

My Pyrenes did that to me and it looked like a giant white fur running thing going down with the cars through 2 lanes of traffic. Not fun and she was on a leash but it just broke.

Basset hounds are the best dogs! I have always had a basset and will never want another breed.

I have adopted a lovely new member into our family named Meatloaf! I have changed his food from Beneful to Wellness whitefish and potatoes which he loves. My dilemma is that he produces too much oil and has a yeast smell. What do you normally feed your hounds? I would like to get an idea of what works well for oily skin and a healthy diet.

I would like to bring to your attention that avacados are poisonous to dogs. I read so in the petfinder.com Adopted Dog Bible. I have seen that also on many other websites. Please remove the section where it says that they are ok, as you may be causing people's pets to fall ill.

Thanks KC for your good suggestion, and the info has been corrected on the page!

I beg to differ with you regardless of the source. I have a five acre avocado ranch and my dogs as well as neighborhood dogs eat fallen avocados on a regular basis with no ill effects with the exception of a little weight gain if I let them eat too many. Now if I could just get them to pick them and put them in the bins, I'd be all set!

I love my dog and avocados. My italian greyhound is my first dog. He is not allergic to avocados, and actually enjoys them.

Anyone interested in a beagle I would recommend getting one as yes they can be hard to train but they are also very easy to love as they are the most affectionate and loyal little dogs. We got dex a year ago and now I couldn't imagine my life without him but unlike other beagles he does not run I advise just walking in the other direction if they are playing up it seems to work with him.

I got a beagle puppy from an animal shelter about a year ago and named Lillina. She was very sweet and my whole family loves her very much. The first day I brought her home she came up to me lay down in my lap and fell asleep. Lillina is very hyper though especially when she is bored or when she gets exited. We've only had two problems with her. The fist problem was that she smelled very bad, so we went to the doctor and she told us that it was the food so we started getting her more natural food that had no by-products and no corn. The second problem we had was that it was very hard to house train her but we still did it at about 10 months now she is fully trained. Lillina eats everything she can find so she gets sick quite often. We love her a lot and she is very friendly to people and dogs and is very affectionate. So if you are thinking about getting a dog I suggest that you get a beagle, but only if you have enough time to spend with her/him. :D
