Wiener dogs are a great pet, however they do not do well with very small children and are prone to anxiety problems! But we love our denali.

We also have a little wiener girl, Norma Jean. She has very bad anxiety when I have to leave without her. We are very close and she burrows down in the front of my night shirt to sleep. But I would not trade her for any other dog in the world. She is my heart.

I have a mini dachsy/jack russell terrier mix, I've also noticed that she doesn't like kids either, everytime she sees a kid, she starts growling and running back and forth. I will go to her level and talk to her, letting her know that they won't hurt her, but she doesn't trust them at all, so I end up picking her up to calm her down and talking to her, once she calms down, then she okay after that.

Ottis is our mini and he is great with our kids we have had him for three years and have a 2 and 5 year old. He Would do anything to protect them and would never hurt them. He does have issues with barking and settling down. When you pet him he can't get enough almost to the point where you don't want to because he won't calm down.

I have a black anf tan female named Harleigh she is 4 yrs old. She hurt her back and can't move or walk on her hind legs, vets has her on meds and rest, confinded to the kennell to keep her from any more injury..They want to due surgery but it is $2000.00 and as a single parent I can not afford it. SO I am hoping the rest and meds work.. It is so sad to not be able to help her more, she is our family mama dog. We pray and hope she gets better soon!!

I have a black and tan male, he hurt his back and could not walk when he was 5. They wanted to do surgery with no guarantee he would walk or would not be in discomfort. We did not do surgery. We kept him confined and within 7 days he was walking again. Within 30 days he was running. He was fine for 3 years. He hurt his back again Christmas Eve and could not walk. We confined him again, but this time it has taken close to 4 months to recover. He is starting to walk again. Very wobbly but it is encouraging. Hang in there. Hope your Dachsie get better

Have you ever looked into animal chiropracters? They have special ones just for dogs, they do message and special touch techniques that help their backs. I have a weiner dog and my friends have weiner dogs and a couple of them swear by these dr's. One of my friends would take her weiner dog whenever her back was out, and she'd immediately get better!

My sweet daughter dog Katie, could not use her front legs.. it made me sick, our vet gave her a round of shots and she now gets a shot every month and takes Cosaquin daily.. she is walking well.. she is going on 5 years old.. But keeping them quit and not letting them move is the answer, let it heal.. I carried her to do her potty 6 times a day... she did it and just stood there waiting to be picked up//Keep her inactive.. I will pray she get better, I cried so many nights over Katie, She is my all. And we have 4 other dogs, but Katie is my Daughter Dog.. Good Luck..

We have a mini dachshund and he has a gagging and mucus problem. He is always coughing and acting like he is going to throw up. Is there anyway to treat this problem?

My doxie had this issue his whole life. He lived a full 12 or so years but he died with lung disease I think. He panted a lot and breathed really rapidly during the last few months it got better then worse I think he had fluid in his lungs. Check hs lungs keep an eye on his heart rate and breathing. Mine lived a full life but I always wonder if it could have been longer... if I had known I wouldn't have waited as long as I did to get him cheked out. I would get a loan or something for even just 1 more month with my lil dookie

Do you know where Sailor is now? I think I might have found him. I'm up north in Marysville, but when I found this little dog plainyg in the street I thought, he looks like a chihuahua basenji mix so I googled that mix to see images and sailor looks EXACTLY like him. He's not neutered, he's got all the same markings and a similar personality to what you described. If you know who has him now, maybe drop them a line to let them know he's safe and email me so I can get in touch with them. We also have two dogs already, so we can't keep him.

Basset Hounds... There is so much to say about the beautiful, loyal, funny, adorable hound. I can talk 24/7 about bassets. :) I have the pleasure to share my life with two bassets, who are my pride and joy. They add so much joy to my life, I could never be without my much loved bassets.

These dogs like to bark.  If they get a scent be prepared for a lot of barking.  If barking is an issue for you, this is not the right dog.

We adopted our beagle, Kilika, 7 weeks ago from the Humane Society. She's one of the sweetest dogs I've ever had. If I had a dog clone, it would be her: smart, lovable, nuts, and when searching for rabbits or squirrels, headstrong. She's a very welcome addition to our family.

We've had 2 beagles for years...the first one, a female, we got in december 2005 and the other one, a male, we got in september 2006. At first the female didn't really accept her new pal, for he was tiny, and she was growing and was used to being the only pup, but it didn't take long for the pair to become best buddies. They often play together, or with us, or with our 21 months old son, although the female seems to be kind of scared of him! They don't like when we go out and leave them alone, even though they are together. the male still pees in the house sometimes, and it just aggravates us! but mister needs to mark territories! The female is vicious when she eats, and we're teaching our son that when the dogs eat, he's not to go near them or worse, touch them (anyways, they have their meal once he's in bed). We don't give them bones when our son is playing around them, cuz they can get quite possessive of their bone and we don't want to risk accidental biting of our child. In the end, they are great, happy dogs and we just adore them!
