We rescued a smooth coat, blue merle colored, ACD in Oct(08) when she was 7 weeks old. She is now about 8 months old, currently weighs about 25 lbs. and is named Jasmine. She is an awesome dog. She has very high-energy and is always trying to please us. She has bonded strongly with my husband but will listen to me when I make her. We live in town but have a large fenced in yard for her. She loves to play fetch and go walking/jogging with me. She does nip at and try to herd our other dog, who is a German Shepard Mix and he doesn't tend to care for that much. She gets bored easily and she keeps us going all of the time. I know I never would have bought this breed but we love our dogs and wouldn't trade them for anything now that we have them!

I have a Blue Heeler named Bob and he's amazing. We found him in Utah and he's been a great companion and very special to my father. Even my mom (who tries to act like she hates our pets) loves him.

And though I am a big lover of the kennel mutt, I have to admit that I'm becoming very attached to the Queensland Blue Heeler. I've not met another dog (save but one) with so much loyalty and personality.

Border collies are used for herding sheep in a big way in Australia.

Also there is a series of Sheepdog Trials held every year in country towns. Each dog has to herd 3 sheep around a set course and into a pen, guided by only verbal instructions from the handler. There is one held in Grenoch, South Australia, which does the whole Scottish thing, with Pipe bands and Highland dancing.

There's even been a series of Sheepdog Trials on TV.

I live with 2 adorable shelties. They love to catch a frisbee, chase a ball and do tricks. If I get busy and don't give them something to do for a few days then they'll let me know by chewing my shoes. They are a great dog to play with, they like to be silly and do tricks, anything for food!! Wonderful begging eyes that you have to be careful of otherwise you'll be treating them all day. They love their food and their people!

My male German Shepherd is so smart, when he was a puppy, I had to work at keeping one step ahead of him. He is always waiting for a command, like, c'mon, let me know what you want me to do already, laugh! High energery, physically and mentally. When we play ball, I purposely will throw it in an area where he really has to work to find it, he loves it! It may take awhile for him to find it, but his tail is constantly wagging, and of course he always gets his ball!

My German Shepherd came to me from a humane shelter which I helped out at. I found him scared of people, which turned anyone away from this beautiful dog. I worked with him as much as I could. I had to sit in his kennell and talk for days with my back to him. He finally came around to me but still wouldn't go to anyone else. I had to adopt him or he'd have to go down. I adopted him and he's finally forgiven people for what was done to him. Now he's the most loving, friendly and playful dog anyone has ever met. I would encourage anyone wanting a great family pet to get a German Shepherd. My sister loves it when he herds my little nephew.
