When you mean trained, do you mean house trained, he doesn't jump on people when they come to visit, he walks without pulling on a leash, and he likes to be groomed, can be taken to a dog park and run and play with other dogs?

Dogs need some training and house training is the one area that is most important for pet owners. For well tempered dogs kept as pets, that is often all that is needed. It sounds like your dog easily adapted to the leash, and is well behaved. Yet there are a variety of other types of training, like teaching him to heel, to poise in a show position, and so forth, depending on what you want to do with him.

Me and my family got a 6 week old chihuahua. He is the sweetest little thing. He gets freaked out if people he dosen't know pet him. He likes his belly rubs and is very playful. We are recently potty training him. We feed him a non salted greenbean every now and then, it is said to be good for the dog. Any tips on potty training?

Best thing you can do is crate train your dog look on web site for crate training. I have a 8 month old and a 5 month old both doing great on crate training and I also have an exercise pen inside I keep them in when I can't watch them in the house.

Hum you need to make a loud almost at at at sound every time she barks say it and then say no, barking it is a repetitive thing you will have to do for a while or try to use a can empty soda can and put coins in it every time she barks shake it near her and tell her no barking.

My long haired chihuahua is shedding excessively! She has never shed like this, her hair is everywhere. I brush and the hair just keeps on coming. I could brush one area a number of times and just keeps getting lots of hair. She has no bald spots or anything.

Try Salmon Oil. Usually, most animals should not have 'excessive' shedding. Supplementing with oil will immediately remedy this (and increase the sheen of their coat).

My 5 yr old chi shed excessively when I first got him, the vet told me to add flax seed oil to his diet, I did this and can't believe the improvement.

There is a shampoo at wal mart for shedding.

You need to maybe change her food I am a chihuahua breeder and I feed my dogs Natural Balance it has limited ingredients and I find my dogs shed less it comes in dry and can food and you can only buy it in a pet store the supermarket will not have it.

Constant telling, make sure you show him it's not right, a friend told me that nipping the ear back will also help when they are really young, I can't say as I haven't tried, keep to short sentences like a no, or gentle I use, it works like a charm but each are different, I really think the main thing is tho just to keep on top, some people say a teething toy, I personally think no, I think its more of an affection and play when they are very young, look at the way puppy bulls plays, the chance is that they are just doing what has been normal to them whilst in the litter.

Up the dose of cuddling in front of her, it sounds like she is the boss of the house or thinks she is, you have to show her its not all her time its also you are your partners time to, give her fuss then, you and your partners fuss then involve her, when she plays up put her out of the room for 5 mins, with a telling off, keep repeating this, she will learn to stop, its easy to submit to them cos they are so lovely but the truth is the more she is left to get away with this behavior the more she will push, if you put a stop to it she will respect you both more, I know I sound cold hearted but I'm not.

My husband and I own two pit bulls named Hadez 1 year and Danaka 6 months. Hadez is very protective of kids and goes wild if he can't get to a kid that is crying. Danaka is still acting a lot like a pup but she loves my five kids. We have a rott and jack rusell too, and they all get along well. Well Hadez does try to make the rott mad but my rott is about 4 years old and he never gets mad it seems.

Anyone interested in a beagle I would recommend getting one as yes they can be hard to train but they are also very easy to love as they are the most affectionate and loyal little dogs. We got dex a year ago and now I couldn't imagine my life without him but unlike other beagles he does not run I advise just walking in the other direction if they are playing up it seems to work with him.

Hi, my english bull terrier has just had a litter of 6, sadly the runt died. Four of them are normal sized pups who are piling on the weight but one (the first born) is very small, he is ok healthwise but is just very much smaller than the rest, I was wondering if there is any chance that he is a miniature and if so how would I tell?
