I don't quite agree with the aggresive part. My chihuahua is very sociable and actually cries when other dogs leave after playing and he cries when a human leaves expecially when I leave or my sister or someone from our household. I'll admit he snaps at us sometimes but he doesn't go mad. Like for eg if someone brings a nailclipper close to him he'd snap. I don't know why he snaps he was always comfortable with it. He's the cutest and the funniest dog in the world I love him to bits. I just have a question how do I get him past his fear? Why is he so clingy? I like it a lot but when I go out to friends and stuff he hold me back.

It sounds like he may not have had good socialization training when he was young. Being very attached to you is a typical resultanting behavior. Some suggestions are to set up a daily routine by providing regular times that are dedicated to him (that he can begin to count on), and other times that are not for him (again that he can count on). Also try crate training as it can provide a special protected space of his own. Once he becomes comfortable with having and being in his own space, then you may be able to go out easier.

I have a mosque l miniature apple head chihuahua. My question is she's going bald on top of her head which I thought was normal for her breed but today I noticed 2 more bald spots on both sides of her body. Is this normal for her breed?

I don't think this is normal, it sounds like a skin problem. I would take her to veterinarian for a check up.

Hello my name is john, I have a family of 4 my wife and two daughters 5 & 6. We all work and go to school we're home by 3:45 every day but in the mean time my mother inlaw lives with us. She is 70 years old, she is still moving around and what not but I heard of bull terriers being loyal to family I was wondering if it would be ok to have one with a woman her age?

I think the dog would be fine, and actually an excellent addition. But I would ask you mother-in-law what she thinks about it, as it will be her constant companion. She may be very happy for the company, and the dog would have a companion too. Could be a win-win situation, but it must be a welcome addition for her.

She sounds like a great pet, and I would try to alleviate the problem rather than anything else. Because of their heritage they are big shedders. You can't prevent her from shedding but regular grooming can help reduce the amount of hair that falls out. Regularly brush your chug to help remove loose hair. Bathing once a month will help also, but too much bathing can cause dry skin. Still you can use a wet towel and rub your chug's fur. The damp towel will also catch loose hairs.

Hi Arlene. Before you get rid of your beloved dog, know that it is normal for Pugwawas to be shedders. They lose hair frequently, but if you brush them daily and wash them once every 2 or 3 weeks, they usually are just normal shedders. Do not get rid of your dog; it sounds like your daughter needs her in her life. Best of luck to you, Alana.

Use flax seed oil. In her food. The SHEDDING WILL STOP. I HAVE AN ENGLISH BULLDOG. HER SHEDDING HAS subsided tremendously. Get it at walmart in the vitamin Area. It's a green bottle. It's only $6 .. In two weeks you'll see a HUGE DIFFERENCE.

I rescued my long hair from a yard with 18 hunting dogs one night. A little blur of red fur was all I saw at first until I looked down between my feet and the most soulful eyes were looking back at me. I called him Squeaky as he makes the smallest squeak you have ever heard. 3 years later he is happy and healthy. My other rescue is a 14 yr old pug Buddhabear that Squeaky is terminally protective of. Squeaky loves all animals and people. The most social loving kid with paws you will ever meet.

I have a one year old long hair Chihuahua. His name is bruiser. Him and my 14 year old cat are buddies. The cat does not like other animals but she likes him. He has a lot of energy. He likes kids and other dogs and people. He thinks that everyone needs to pet him when we go for a walk. He does bark if he hears a noises. Sleeps under the blanket cuddled up next to my leg.

I just lost my little buddy ( Hoss ) three weeks ago. He was very smart and never barked. He didn't care for people much, but he loved other dogs. He was eleven years old. I miss him very very much!

My ACD keeps running away and I'm not sure what to do. I'm pretty sure she needs more excircise. Also she has become very aggressive towards my nieghboors and turning my other dog aggressive. What age does an ACD mellow out?????

I'm not sure they do mellow out. They were bred as work dogs for herding and they do best if they have a 'job' to do. From what I've heard about them, if they don't have a job or get plenty of exercise everyday, they can begin to display disruptive behaviors. Sounds like your guy needs more activities, which will keep both him and you happy.
