I have grown up with English Mastiffs my entire life and they are by far my favorite! I have a 19 month old that is lean and in good health minus the hip dysplasia that seems to be getting worse over the past two weeks. I cannot afford to have the surgery done since it seems to have started in front and back, does anyone recommend anything I can do as he is the best dog and way too cute!

High quality foods, keep it weight down, and there are many supplements that can be added to their food.

I reccommend you use glucosamine chondroitin. These can be bought at any walmart and should run 30 bucks for a3 month supply. They help rebuild cartilidge in joints and relieve pain. I had a 196 pound rottweiler who would cry due to pain sitting down. With these pills he stopped. The vet has other pills, but this is cheap and effective. Good luck and talk to vet if dog is on other meds.

Please look into water therapy! It has had fantastic results with other breeds. Dogs who were unable to walk are running again! Strengthening the muscles around the joints without weight dependancy is the key!

We breed English mastiffs and it's our belief that a mastiff is the most rewarding and satisfying canine to have around. Check us out to find out more www.kinghillmastiffs.com

Wiener dogs are a great pet, however they do not do well with very small children and are prone to anxiety problems! But we love our denali.

We also have a little wiener girl, Norma Jean. She has very bad anxiety when I have to leave without her. We are very close and she burrows down in the front of my night shirt to sleep. But I would not trade her for any other dog in the world. She is my heart.

I have a mini dachsy/jack russell terrier mix, I've also noticed that she doesn't like kids either, everytime she sees a kid, she starts growling and running back and forth. I will go to her level and talk to her, letting her know that they won't hurt her, but she doesn't trust them at all, so I end up picking her up to calm her down and talking to her, once she calms down, then she okay after that.

Ottis is our mini and he is great with our kids we have had him for three years and have a 2 and 5 year old. He Would do anything to protect them and would never hurt them. He does have issues with barking and settling down. When you pet him he can't get enough almost to the point where you don't want to because he won't calm down.

I own 3 GSP's and plan on owning them the rest of my life! They are incredible dogs, very intelligent, loving and eager to please. They DO need exercise, but are easily trained provided you keep their attention. They REQUIRE human companionship, do NOT leave this dog outside by himself!

My four year old son is obsessed with the cartoon Scooby-Doo, so my husband and I were going to look for him a great dane for christmas when one of our friends called us and said that they had found a dog wandering their street. We went out and looked at him and it was a 10 month old daniff puppy, naturally our son fell in love with him and named him Scooby-Doo...we have had him for almost a year now and he is like my son. We have two kids a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old, and they absolutely love him to death. He is so much a part of our family, we couldn't have asked for a better dog. He is so gentle and so protective of the family. He is just a wonderful breed. I don't have to worry about the kids when they are outside b/c Scooby doesn't let anyone he doesn't know near the kids and he keeps an eye on them. I would strongly suggest to any family that a daniff is 100% a perfect family dog. You will not make a mistake going with this breed!

I would recommend the rough collie as a great family dog. Here in Scotland our rough collie males are on average 24 inches at the shoulder. Our dog Elvis is the sweetest natured dog you can imagine and we love him to bits. He is also a very beautiful sable and white dog.

Sounds like you love your puppy. Of course, I would love any puppy named Elvis. He has to be my favorite. Seriously, I love the collies.

Our pet name is biscuit. He thinks he's a cat. You will always see a sock in his mouth. He is likely to be seen twirling the sock while on his back. He loves to box my husband while playing. He's a sweetie.

But what about life spans for Schnoodles? And what health issues have people encountered? I'm considering a Schnoodle after having had Schnauzers the past 20 years and dealing with Cushings, diabetes and cancer with them once they reached 10 yrs. old.

The life span for a Snoodle is said to be around 14 years old. Per the Animal World article above some health concerns are for the eyes and epilepsy.
