Hi, I have a large metal garage shed and converted it into an aviary for diamond doves and zebra finches. They have a fountain and an artificial tree with real branches, and a hibiscis tree.

I live in Anaheim Hills and have had a male Pintail Whydah at my feeders for a few weeks. He is very vocal, and not overly afraid of me when out in the yard or filling feeders. He does seem very interested in the other finches and follows a few around, but I have not been able to determine if any of them are actually female Whydahs.

I live in Milton, Fla. I have a friend that has spotted a bird that resembles a pintail whydah eating from her feeder, it looks close to the one in the photo she took. I should hear from her soon if this is the bird. My sister and I heard him singing in the trees when we came to visit, hoping to see it. My friend tells me he runs off all the other birds from the feeder and wards off the mocking birds.

I have a lovely little female. She has become so accustomed to me that she dances on the perch or side of cage closest to me and sings. I would love to find her a male.

I am getting three Society finches tomorrow and they sound like delightful birds. I can't wait to get the little guys.

We purchased 2 society finches Nov 2008 and they had their first babies Jan 2009. They laid 4 eggs, but only two babies were born. We watched the mother and father feed the babies, and at one point one of the babies had been thrown from the nest and landed in the food bowl. I picked up the little pink body and put it back into the cage. They didn't throw the babies out any other time, yet I was always anxious as I looked into the cage numerous times during the day. I was amazed how fast they grew and how they were the size of the parents in 4 weeks! We watched how the mother taught the birds one by one how to fly and eat. Now they are 5 weeks old and the mom has laid 5 more eggs. It is interesting to see how all 4 birds get into the nest while there are 5 eggs inside! We love our finches.

Hi, I'm from Pakistan. There you can see, in fields, a lot of redberry finches in Pakistan. The prey man sells them to shops. I have two pairs. Even though I have succeeded to breed them in my avairy room, I got eggs by the cross of a female berry finch with a male society finch. But when the chick came out, no one would feed it. After three days I founded it dead.
