i have 2 beautiful babies, 1 boy & 1 girl. They are now 3. I got my boy when he was 4 months and my girl when she was 6 months. They are the joy of my everyday and i dont know what life what be without them. As you can tell, i love my birds dearly. The bond that these birds form with you is just amazing, and not only with you but with each other. My two carry on like children (often worst)talking and screeching when they are not together.T hey do become very good talkers. My birds have free flight of the house and yes they are toilet trained. Hope you all have as much fun with your birds as i do with mine.

I'm now the happy owner of a male Eclectus (subspecies unknown)because one day in mid April of 2005 my daughter look out the window of her office and saw a beautiful parrot roosting on a low tree. She went out to see if she could capture the bird and when she saw he was going to fly she just grabbed him. Brought him home in a box with holes punched in it. We "googled" parrots and discovered this site with a perfect picture of our bird. There was no response to our ads for a lost parrot at our vets and local pet shops and there was no micro chip. There is a leg band indicating he is domestically bred. Fred is now housed in a $50 yard sale cage that is advertised on line for over $500 and other than a check up be the local bird doc and a lot of toys we have had no other expenses for this absolutely gorgeous bird with a great personality. Not talking yet but makes a huge range of "noises" and Fred bird talk.

We purchased are Senegal parrot three years ago from a local bird store. Born on November 1, 2002, We brought Elmo (named before we were told her sex) home the weekend after New Year's 2003. My husband and I have no children, so Elmo is very spoiled. Grandma says "Thank God you don't have any kids since the bird is so spoiled". Elmo has free rein of the house when we are at home. The first thing we do is open the cage door and allow her to go wherever she wants to go. Normally she'll climb down the play set to make sure everyone is home. If one of us get home late she will pace until the other person gets home. If we don't open the cage door right away she will call for us until we let her out. Elmo speaks a few phrases, "Pretty Bird" "Oh, Pretty Baby" "Mommy" "Daddy" but I think she does better with the imitations of the microwave, alarm clock and my husband's cell phone. The "wolf whistle" and "charge" are also popular. She loves taking showers and will run to the bathroom door and she'll peck at the door until she's let in. She's plenty of fun and alot of work to keep occupied. But she is definitely special.

Savannah is a female SI eclectus. I got her at 9 months of age. She first learned to yahoo like the prairie dog, then meow exactly like my cat who stays outside but meows at the front door. She's finally saying hello occassionally when she hears you in another room. She's turned into a real snuggler and has been a great joy so far.

I've owned a meyers parrot for almost 2 weeks, I couldn't of picked a better bird! The only problem I've found is that there is little information on this specific bird, I've found them to be every bit of what the internet has said about them to be true. I honestly couldn't imagine my life without her now.

Morgan is a three year old Meyers with tremendous coloring. She is friendly with all who belong in the household and those who visit. She gets along well with our four dogs and mimics the whistle to call them into the house, as well as the "meow" for the two cats. She does not speak, but can mimic about ten distinct household sounds. The introduction of Morgan to the household was a learning experience for the dogs and cats, who were very curious and had to be educated that the bird was not for their amusement. She is now carefully guarded by the dogs who sleep by her cage. Her roomy cage is housed in the heart of the living room so that she can enjoy the daily routine of all. She doesn't "scream" but whistles and chirps contentedly, especially at nature programs when birds are calling. Her favorite daily routine falls on the cool FLorida days where she sits on the porch and calls out to the wild birds while swinging on her rope toy.

I bought my Sengal 23 years ago, her birthday will be next month. When I got her she was very young, i think to young, from a pet store and had many problems. Quiet she is not! Behaviors many! But I love her dearly! She is very anti-social. dont know why. But we find joy in her anyway with her antics. She has learn to talk. Says her name BoBo, makes the sound of the phone ringing, says my name, and on occasion says a swear word. When she is extremly afraid she will get out of her cage and run! into my bedroom and stand beside my bed and yell. We have been through good and tough times, she is my friend. four years ago BOBO lost her friend. believe it or not she shared her cage with a LoveBird! they were the best of buddies, snuggled with each, other preened eaach other etc. BOBO looked for days when Beesha passed on. It was heartbreaking. so anti social but a good heart and loving, thats my sengal

I am the joyful sister of a 3 yr old female eclectus "Gerty". She has an extensive vocabulary and often shouts "WOW" when she impresses herself by teasing the cat. She is sweet & sour. Sometimes chases me across the floor if she has escaped from her cage. She has a flock to chat with; blue/gold Macaw, yellow crown amazon, & sun conure, all of whom she imitates. Her favorite treat is fresh aloe leaf. She will sit in the shower endlessly and is in beautiful plummage. I love all of what she brings to my life .

I don't have a Senegal, but a very closely related bird, a Red-Bellied Parrot. They are very similar in appearance. His name was Pedro and I got him at the pet store I was working at. I was going to change his name, but at three months old, I came in and asked him, "Watcha doing Buddy?" and he replied, "Pedro is a pretty bird". I was so excited, I was running around, telling the rest of the staff about him. Two months and $750 later, I came home with Pedro in the largest cage I could afford, an 18 x 18. He has loads of toys, but his favorite thing to do is to be on his perch in the kitchen window, looking out on the world while I do my chores. He also loves to groom me, whether it be my hair or my nose! He'll give kisses, and flap his wings on request. He's an awesome whistler and knows that when I say 'pretty bird', it's time for the wolf whistle. He is a delight to me and he's the only boyfriend for me :D
