My new baby girl red-sided eclectus was just born 12-12-05 and will be coming home with me in a few weeks. I visit her regularly at the breeders home. She only just now started to get her red pin feathers. I am so excited, just counting down the days. I cant believe all of the wonderful things I have read. I admit for a moment I was concerned because I read a lot of information that said females were aggressive, less friendly, and less tame, and less talented then the male. But reading from the people who actually own them I have read mostly good things in all of these areas.

We, my significant other and myself, are owned by a gorgeous lady in the form and shape of a Meyer's Parrot. Since I don't have her hatch date, I can only go by when we adopted each other, which was in June '05. At that time she had just been weaned, and she was just the most beautiful, in every way, baby M.parrot I had ever seen. She had a perfect physique, the works! My only thing is I didn't want a girl, because the possibility of becoming "egg-bound" in the future.
She is nicknamed "Chicklet." But officially her name is Cricket. What a wonderful companion, entertainer, cuddler and general grrrreat feather-person to share our lives with!!! There aren't any negatives I can speak of in her life with me,but my significant other does have a few complaints with biting.
Her favorite things are #1 to stay out of her cage, #2 play independently on her back/doing acrobatic's (somersault's, etc.)
She eats practically EVERYTHING set before her and is a JOY to share life with. She is what I get up in the morning for.

Hi I have a 6 month old female Eclectus named Trixie, I bought her when she was 2 mons. old. She came home at the end of November and is just a total delight to be with. She is saying hello and is trying to say a whole lot of other words and phrases too. I just love her like she is one of my kids. she is the best pet I`ve ever had and just a beautiful parrot, very lovable. I believe she is a solomn island eclectus, she is on the smaller side with green in her wings. She loves to eat and loves to watch TV. Cartoons are her favorite, I just love her so much and I can`t imagine my life without her in it.

The Senegal Parrot has loads of personality. I have had my Senegal, named Tirol for 18 years. He is sweet, easy to care for and always happy to engage in activities with me. He is great company for my African Grey but Tirol is definitely in charge.

My senegal, PZ, was given to me about 2 1/2 years ago and is so beautiful. He was found in a park being attacked by crows and was rescued by one of our church members. He is very sweet and mutters a lot in his own "birdy" language, but he is very agressive and does bite if I try to touch him. I think he is actually from Africa and not bred in the US. None-the-less, he is a very important part to my family and he is wonderful. He has picked up on many phrases that I say and whistles a lot also. He also loves to cluck his tongue.

I have a pair of red bellies and even though they are not tame, they amaze me every day. I go into the bird room for chores, and immediately my mood is lifted with their chorus of hello's and "where's the vegetables?!" They both enjoy being petted and talked to through the cage. I have been a breeder for 7 years, and own 16 different species, and red bellied babies are by far my favorite! Of all the birds I raise, I get the most compliments on my red bellied babies, because of their awesome personalities, and their ability to be a family pet.

i received my male pet senegal, Smitty, two years ago tomorrow. All i can say is my mom and i (im 15) have completely bonded to this bird and vice versa. he is extremely affecionate. he says kisses and we come give the guy kisses. he also says pretty bird, pretty smitty, smitty, sheila(my mom), bath, mornin', and hey smitty along with the long list of household imitations: beeps whistles etc. He is such a monkey...he enjoys laying on his back more than anything. He chews through wood faster than a beaver and he is always busy. i believe a senegal parrot is the most affectionate pet i could have asked for!
