Last year for my fiveteenth birthday, a got a female colbalt budgie. Her name is Delilah, which I named her after the radio talk show host on a certain light rock station. I was sad when both Huckle and Clarissa died last year. The cause of death was unknown, even though I think it might have been from natural causes. Anyway, my dad tought little Delilah a new noise. She kinda sounds like a pigeon when she chirps. The other day I was training her how to talk, and when I left the room, it sounded like she said, "Don't leave me." Parakeets are the coolest!

Hi, I'm from Australia and we found our Alexandrine. Actually he found us. He walked (didn't fly) into my wifes work one day and started talking. When it became her turn to take him home for the weekend we both fell in love with him. We placed posters at the local shops, city newspapers, etc about a missing parrot (we didn't know what he was). No body collected him so he was ours. 9 months or so later he grew his ring, and we've taught him a lot.
He gives kisses when asked, can say a lot of stuff. Has a diet coke addiction (doesn't like normal coke), eats breakfast lunch and dinner with us (I work from home).
He goes through toys and ladders like there is no tomorrow. We've even made him a stainless steel ladder because he was eating through two a month. We've since placed a nice softwood we found in the bush in his cage.
The only weird thing is, he lets almost every female pat him, he actually loves it, but never lets me or any male touch anything but his beak. I guess he must have been mistreaded by a male owner previously.
We absolutely love him, he is a part of the family.

hello. my daughter got a bird for her birthday. she named him fruity. this is our first time having a pet like this. she is scared of him but my son lets him out everyday to let him fly. i really want to know what type of bird it is, and if he could really talk. after looking at some of the pictures, i think he is a budgie. my son loves him more than my daughter does. i am glad that they have a pet and i hope they can train him to talk.

I used to have 5 budigies and they all died. Now I bought 2 new budgies. I have had them about 3 months.they're blue and green. the green is a little mean but he is still nice. Their names are Blue Bird and Green Bird. thats because we don't what names to call them, so its Blue Bird and Green Bird.

I have a parakeet named jerry. he is a male and is very loving. this website helped me a lot. he had mites about a year ago and now is fully recoverd and back to his normal happy self. but before i got jerry, i had a parakeet named billy. he wasnt very active and was plucking out his feathers. he seemed very depressed. thanks to this, I now know why i am thinking about breeding parakeets, and now i know how to care for them the right way, thanks, it helped me alot.

I have just recently gotten 2 budgies, jack-jack and skylar. I love having out of the cage play time! Especially since skylar loves to try to nussle the back, of my neck almost like she's tell me I'm the best owner she's ever had! I just wish I would have gotten them sooner than what I did because they are AWESOME!!

I just got two parakeets from my aunt because they work alot and wont be able to take care of them. Ones a boy and the others a girl. they are sooo cute!!! but around the 2nd, 3rd day after we got them i noticed the boy was acting strange. I told my mom and stuff but no one believed me, but now that I've read the last comment I think that he might have a thyroid condition!! Hes been shivering, ruffled, and hes acting as though hes coughing up a hair ball! I'm very worried and I hope hes OK so as soon as my mom and dad come home (cuz I just found out whats wrong) I have to tell them and see if we could find an iodine supplement or some kinda fruit or something that the bird will eat that contains iodine... I'm so worried and sad, I've only had them for a week and one might die...

"i like the prukts", writes my son Amory. Our yellow parakeet Goldie flew into my apartment. Then we got Azul so now they are a lovely pair. We love them very much.
