I am a new budgie owner. Agatha is a young female. She is a tough sell on letting me tame her, but I will just be patient! My immediate goal is to get her a larger cage and a mate to live with; I think the company would help her since I work full-time. I keep her by me at night at the computer, and talk with her. I also hope I can convince her it is OK to come out of her cage! She has her flight feathers clipped, and gets around OK, but she does not trust that open door yet...

im from australia and i colony breed budgies in a large aviary. recently i had a pair produce a number of lutinos and semi clearwings. i kept one for taming and the others are now breeding. i also added in some zebra finches to the aviary and they are breeding like crazy too. if ya like birds you should try colony breeding in a large aviary cause its great to watch them all interact but first do ya reasearch cause the little fellas are precious! cya

I BOUGHT A BABY BUDGIE YESTERDAY FOR MY FRIEND IGGY AS A BIRTHDAY GIFT. I PICKED HIM OUT OF ABOUT 50 PARAKEETS AND HIS COLOR IS TURQUOISE LIKE THE OCEANVIEW FROM IGGYS BALCONY FACING MIAMI BEACH. I HAD CHANGED HIM THREE TIMES TRYING TO FIND THE PERFECT FEATHERS AND JUST THE DEEPEST OF COLOR... TOOK OFF WITH THIS NEW LITTLE FEATHERED FRIEND AND KEPT HIM OVER NIGHT IN MY APARTMENT IN HIS NEW CAGE, WITH HIS NEW TOY. THE NEXT DAY INTRODUCED HIM TO HIS NEW OWNER... AT FIRST MY FRIEND WAS HESISTANT TO HAVING A PET, MUCH LESS A BIRD. BY THE TIME AN HOUR HAD PASSSED HE HAD HIM OUT OF THE CAGE AND ON HIS SHOULDER. ALREADY ENJOYING A TRULY FRIENDLY BIRD AND HOPEFULLY A COMPANION FOR MANY YEARS.

I own a male Alexandrine Parakeet. He will be 4 yrs old in March. When I bought him the people did not know anything at all about him. They told me he would not learn but maybe 10 words. Needless to say he has an extensive vocabulary, and he knows when to use which words.
It took him about a year to get to know my friends. He would not talk in front of any of them, but now he talks and talks.

Hi everyone! Just got two little babies yesterday and they are the cutest little birds. One is yellow and one is a sky blue. When my daughter and I went to the pet store yesterday, I told her the two birds that were the easiest to catch were the ones going home with us. These two birds came right to both of us and let us pick them up and rub their heads. I said these are the ones going home with us! When we got them home and in their new home, they just pretty much stayed like that the rest of the evening. This morning we woke up to both of them just crimping up a storm so I guess they are happy. We are trying to think of some unique names for them!

We have a family of ringnecks who live in the wild and come several times a day to our feeder in SW Florida. They love sunflower seeds, and will stay at the feeder for 10-15 minutes at a time sometimes. The youngsters stay and eat the most.
