our harlequin is 8 1/2 years old. his name is Baby and he is the ruler of our roost. he is the one that keeps our other birds in line.
it has been a long time joke that if it came down to my Baby or my husband that my husband had best pack his bags. these are the most wonderful of all species. everybody should have the opportunity in life to be loved as these birds can love you.

Think we are breaking the size barrier with Cracker, a 4 month old Scarlett. Cracker is 1450 grams and is still slim, 33" in length. And as with all large macaws is very loving. "He" loves to play chase with our cats and sometimes the dog, although Shelby-Dog is 14 and not always up to it. I have several other hookbills but without a doubt my scarlett is my favorite !

This is so great! I have a Bluffon, but never knew what type of macaw he is until now. People have told me several times that mine was probably a mix between a military and blue and gold, and I thought they were right because of the very few red feathers on the bridge of his nose, but then I see this beautiful bird above and I swear it is just like looking at my bird. Thank you for posting the picture.

My soon to be 6 year old female Scarlet is a joy and wonder to be with. She is out of her nippy stage, a firm look and time broke her of this. Biting/nipping is NOT allowed ever. I can handle her at all times and she loves it. BUT she will not go to other people. she is around lots of people but is not inclined to step up for anyone.
She is a great talker with a large list of spokem words like "time to go nighty night" when the sun goes down. Regards to all from Chilli and chuck

I have 2 blu/golds. One is named Cookie (my first purchase ... she was formerly owned by another person and I bought her when she was almost two) who is now aprox 5 yrs old. Then I have Lacy, who is ten. I just purchased her about 3 months ago but have known of her for aprox 5 yrs. Lacy and Cookie (and most of my other birds) came from the same pet store. Lacy was purchased by someone who due to family situation needed to find another home for her. So she joined our flock a few months ago. Blu/Golds are my fav macaws. They seem to be the most laid back and open macaws I have had the pleasure to deal with. They aim to please the human they have contact with, they love to receive love as well as give it back. And when I stand back and see these two parrots, it amazes me that I am priviledged to have the trust that I do from them. I love all my birds and consider them my fids (feathered kids).

(PS ... Shay ... it is sometimes keeping these endangered species like we do that saves them from being extinct.)
