I just got two greenwing Macaws. They are adults, male and female. I wanted to buy one of their babies but the women loved this baby so much, she offered the parents. I said yes and here I am trying to find out all I can about them. I have had them about 1 month but somehow I love them already. The
male will let me feed him and he will say hi. the lady is still not too sure. These are my first Marcaws. I have loved this web sight and have learned alot.

Thanks so much for the information on Shamrock Macaws. When we got our "Juan", we were told he/she was a Harlequin. It's obvious by looking at pictures of many Shamrocks, Juan is a not a Harlequin but a Shamrock. He/she is featured on the website Pet of the Day for July 26, 2004

I have acquired a female harlequin, Penny. She is absolutely wonderful. Penny is about 18 years old. She now lays eggs in the spring, typically 2 clutches of up to 5 eggs. I have no intentions of breeding, as I want her to remain a pet, and she is a hybrid afterall. I enjoyed viewing this web site, however, I disagree with the vocabulary of roughly 15 words/ expressions. Penny is capable of over 150 words or expressions, admittabily, she does have her favorites, and she does rotate her vocabulary. Penny seems to prefer to acquire most of her new vocabulary from my 6 year old son. My harlequin is constantly learning vocab, amusing our family, and simply enjoying being a bird

I just got my Ruby Macaw--dad is a Scarlet, mom a Greenwing...What a wonderful bird! She's the perfect blend of both...smart, gentle, affectionate, and responsive. They maybe pricey but, they are well worth the money. I consider it an honor to have her.

Very intelligent and interesting birds. I have one that was actually trained to talk, and of course you can count on the fact that he does swear at times, too!

Our Yellow-Collared is funny. He loves to dance. If you sing to him he dances, and if you are laughing and he is on your shoulder, he will laugh with you. It is hillarious.

I am from South Africa and have seen macaws only a few times. I do not have a macaw, but I do have an African Grey, 3 ringnecks and 2 white doves(as I like to call them because they are called so many names I do not know which one is the proper name). I am dying to get one and have been trying to find out prices without much luck. I must say that you have an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC website and have the most beautiful pictures of macaws. All the macaws look healthy and happy. Keep up the good work with the website and may you and all your/the macaws stay healthy and have a good life.

My first Macaw was a Blue & Gold my second was a Green Wing. There is no comparision to the two. The Green Wing is very lovable and trustworthy. My Blue and Gold would cuddle up to you and then take a bite out of your face. My Green Wing never did anything like that. He loved cuddles and kisses and eating with me. I had to leave him behind in America when I moved to England. I now have a female Green Wing and she is wonderful. She loves cuddles and kisses and is very smart. My mother now has my Green Wing along with a female blue and gold and two scarlets. All three of hers will rip your hand off if you get near them. I thought maybe it is the female macaws that are mean. But now I have a female and she is even more gentle than my male.
