Hello- I purchased my Hahn's at a bird mart on Valentine's Day. (He was 7 months old when we got him,) When I picked him up, he kept kissing me so I had to have him! Since then, he has been quite the little treasure. He likes to make 'kiss' sounds, and is starting to mimic my laughter. I recently purchased an Illiger's Macaw, and the two are getting quite close. A favorite birdie pasttime is to run around the living room floor grabbing each other's tail, and wrestling. My Hahn's is more outgoing (and noisy) than the Illiger's. He loves to sign and babble. I highly recommend this little package.

15 words - not for Godzilla! Yes, he earned that name. When Godzilla wants our attention he will swing from the door of his cage and go through his vocabulary of 50 words and phrases. He will say, "Godzilla's a good bird, no I'm a bad bird, no I'm a good bird." He'll call the other animals by name and say "gimme a kiss". He can meow, bark and is learning to cluck like a chicken. He is also learning when asked what the bird says to say, "Birds don't talk". He answers the telephone, the door and says, "HI" in my EXACT tone of voice fooling my husband many times.

Clearly the best thing he says has to do with my husbands career. He is a cop. Godzilla LOVES to say, "BUCKLE UP" and with the accent of Sylvester Stallone, he says, "I AM THE LAW"!

We just got a Harlequin Maca and he is about 7 weeks old. The pet shop owner burnt his crop and we got him because the pet shop owner could not afford to take him to the vet. So we took him and had surgery don and he is doing great. He is a very sweet baby. Can't wait until he starts to talk. Enjoy your website greatly! Thanks, Caroline

My Raja is the best gift I ever got. I love him so much and I feel that from him as well. We are forming our bond and day by day we are getting closer. I have always dreamt of owning a scarlet macaw and my husband made that dream come true for me. He never has nipped me since the day I brought him home, although he will nip others in the household. I guess he has chosen me as part of his flock and am proud of that and intend to never fail him. My kids, I have six of them, all love him and wonder who will get him one day after I leave the world, I always tell them, "the one I see that does the very best by him will have the honour". My dream is unbelievable, I know you will all understand the respect I give my bird, as he does by me. I now take him for walks, we will grow together and learn from each other. It is truly an amazing pet to own and respect and love. We do get close he loves when I pet him on his head and neck. Take care all you parrot lovers, esp. macaws.

I just got two greenwing Macaws. They are adults, male and female. I wanted to buy one of their babies but the women loved this baby so much, she offered the parents. I said yes and here I am trying to find out all I can about them. I have had them about 1 month but somehow I love them already. The
male will let me feed him and he will say hi. the lady is still not too sure. These are my first Marcaws. I have loved this web sight and have learned alot.

Thanks so much for the information on Shamrock Macaws. When we got our "Juan", we were told he/she was a Harlequin. It's obvious by looking at pictures of many Shamrocks, Juan is a not a Harlequin but a Shamrock. He/she is featured on the website Pet of the Day for July 26, 2004

I have acquired a female harlequin, Penny. She is absolutely wonderful. Penny is about 18 years old. She now lays eggs in the spring, typically 2 clutches of up to 5 eggs. I have no intentions of breeding, as I want her to remain a pet, and she is a hybrid afterall. I enjoyed viewing this web site, however, I disagree with the vocabulary of roughly 15 words/ expressions. Penny is capable of over 150 words or expressions, admittabily, she does have her favorites, and she does rotate her vocabulary. Penny seems to prefer to acquire most of her new vocabulary from my 6 year old son. My harlequin is constantly learning vocab, amusing our family, and simply enjoying being a bird
