My Scarlet Macaw, Bullseye-Billy, is the most loving bird out of him, my Hyacinth Macaw (Quincy), my Greater-Sulpher-crested cockatoo (Abb), and my Blue and Gold macaw (Stanfield). Although most macaws are not exactly cuddly, it is different for him. He loves to sit on my shoulder and lean down to kiss me and coo to me. It's adorable! It is true, though, that every scarlet differs. They make amazing pets.

I've been around two Harlequin macaws in my life. If anyone is looking for a macaw as a companion pet, they should choose a Harlequin. Harlequins are easy-going, intelligent, sassy, outgoing, affectionate and loving, but they also love pleasing a crowd and are eager to learn something new. That's how my Harlequins are like. Harlequin macaws forever! :)

I got my Hahn's, "Isabelle", 4 months ago at a bird show. She was 3-months-old and had just been weened. She is an awesome bird. She demands a lot of my attention...which I guess is my fault because she's been pretty spoiled!! When I say "she"...I really don't know what sex she is. The breeder actually told me that she'd been raising Hahn's macaws for a while--and if she had to take a guess based on size...she thought my baby was actually a male. But who really knows? She's a clown....loves to talk and jabber...and roll around on her back. She thinks she's a human baby and gets really irritated if you don't hold her like she is one! She will climb up on you and flip over on her back for cuddle time. Her favorite thing to do is to babble--you can't understand a word she is saying when she does it...but it's funny, to say the least! For being only 7-months-old, she does have a decent vocabulary. So far, she can say Hi, Mom, step up, come here, come on, pretty girl (not as clearly), she barks like the dog, mimics my laugh, whistles, says "Mmm" when you feed her, and gives loud kisses. She loves our 6 lb dog and can't understand how come the dog doesn't let her "step up". She definitely prefers me to other people...but she will go to almost anyone. She loves people--and even likes children and other animals. She can be quite noisy if I leave her sight, or if a baby cries, and also in the morning when she's ready to be uncovered. Other than that, she's an amazing baby! I'd recommend this species to anyone.

I got my Hahn's almost two years ago and she is pure delight. Her name is Mijah (my daughter in spanish) but I mostly call her Mimi. She knows and says her name and when I feed her she says "Mimi yum, yum, Mimi yum". She knows lots of words hello mama, hello, cozmoe(the dog), night-night, and love-love to name a few. I've had her since she was four months old and she has been sexed. She says hello when people come in the door or the phone rings. Every night before I cover her cage, I sing the "Barney" song to her and she can sing some parts of it with me. When I sing "with a graat big hug and a kiss from me to you" she gives a great big kissing sound. She is such a joy and such a clown. She LOVES peanut butter; when we sit down at the table to eat she starts in with yum, mimi yum, yum, yum. She can be quite noisey at times; right now she is screaming for me cause I'm in the office. Despite the occassional noise, she has been a great addition to our family and is so easy to care for. I highly recommend a Hahn's as a pet!

My Greenwing (Maggie) is my first and only bird.
I had always wanted a Macaw but spent a long time researching and learning about them before making such a commitment (including talking to avian vets).
She is spoilt rotten but absolutely adorable, she loves cuddles and following me around.
She was saying 'oh hello' before 6 months of age.
Chatters constantly and brightens up any moment with her unique chuckle.
She plays pekaboo with my 4 yr old.
Best decision I made. We are part of her flock now and it will stay that way. Part with Maggie? No way! First bird, true love!

My love for birds doesn't stop. we have 4 birds, two Quaker Parrots and 2 Military Macaws. they all talk, yell, scream, very loud but we all love them all. My 3 kids all love them as well. My husband is in love with the Macaws, some days more them me. The birds are a lot of work for mom and lots of droppings to clean. Then they tell me that they love me and that I'm beautiful, which makes my job all worth it. Guess that is why the love for my birds grows every day. Enjoy your birds and love them the the max and the will love you.

My husband just put a deposit down on a 4 1/2 month old Greenwing for me. I am very excited to add it to our flock when it's weaned and ready to go! Its feathered family will include a Blue and Gold macaw, a Severe Macaw, an Umbrella Cockatoo and a Sun Conure.

I have 8 macaws-A Blue and Gold named Jack, a Scarlet named Monty, a Capri named Sir Lancelot, a Maui Sunset named 007, a Military Macaw named Jordan, a Hyacinth named Tucker, and a Green-winged Macaw named Africo. Of all my birds, as well as my Double-Yellow Headed Amazon Bob (No, I didn't name him that), he is the sweetest. He adores siting on my belly and sweet-talking me. It's adorable! He loves everyone he meets and will not refrain from kissing every guest we have and saying "Hi, baby". But what makes me feel so good is that he has not said "I love you" to anyone...Except me.
