I, um, forgot my name... - 2006-03-26
I have a Sun Conure named Jenga, a Blue and Gold Macaw named Yella' Belly, and a Camelot Macaw named Sir Lancelot (We call him Lance). Lance is a wonderful, sweet, and loving bird that wants no more in life than to sit under my chin and coo. He is a big cuddler that loves everyone, especially women. He shows of to his girlfriend Jenga, but she is never impressed. He competes with my other male Yella' Belly to win Jenga's affection.
Sir Lancelot will die for bananas and strawberry yogurt. He loves all kinds of fruits and vegetables, which is good because it's very healthy for him! I know that this bird is for experienced people only, but I dearly recommend the Camelot Macaw for anyone willing to share a room in their hearts for a bird that only wants to love and be loved.
P.S. I LOVE THIS SITE!!

I have a male Blue and Gold Macaw named Sun Belly. I got him from a well known breeder. Sun Belly is a beautiful, outgoing sweetheart that is an amazingly playful bird with a gentle and loving personality. His cage, a 5 by 5 by 5 California cage with a playtop, is located in the family room where attention is abundant. He can say a weak 'Hello' and a cute 'I'm Sun Belly!' She is very popular with people since he comes to work with me and sits no a stand in the lobby.
I really love him more than anything and he is spoiled rotten...In a sweet sort of way. :)

I have a male Illiger macaw named Smudge. He is a very palyful, sweet, and funny bird. He knows how to play dead, give a high five, play basketball, put a coin in a piggy bank, wave, and many more tricks. This just shows how intelligent he is. He says:
Love ya'
Hello, I'm Smudge
Please?
I really reccommend these birds for anyone who is willing to give it the love and care it thrives on, and can put up with its noise, mess, and separation anxiety.

I was adopted by a harlequin macaw. She was a rescue, taken from her previous home by the Health Dept due to neglect, starvation and deplorable conditions. She was lucky to still be alive and in pretty good shape -- many of the other animals were not. We had a bit of a rocky start given her history and my relative inexperience with birds; but we quickly got help through a local bird store, a bird behaviorist, an avian vet and websites like this one. Today she's a lovely bird, happy, talkative, well-adjusted, playful, naughty, noisy and NEVER hungry! Macaws are amazing birds and it's wonderful to see her happy and healthy -- such a difference from the sad, crying, frightenend, miserable bird who moved in with me a few years ago. I wouldn't recommend a rescue as your first bird -- I was successful, but very lucky I had access to great resources and able to devote a lot of time and money to her rehabilitation. Rescues are not "free" birds and can end up costing you much more than if you had purchased a hand-raised baby!

My MM Alex, is one of 4 parrots, 2 U2's, B&G. By far my MM is the sweetest and the least "loud". She was cage bound for 6 years prior to our rescuing her. We use a great hepa or better air filitration system. B&G is separate due to dust. Rest in birdroom. My MM loves all the birds and is an avid chatterer, singer and truly my favorite, as far as attitude. She is nippy with hubby and most men. She layed an egg last January (non-fertile). I rescue and rehab. NO BREEDING/BUYING/SELLING.

we have a 2yr old military macaw called tattie because she looked a scruff when we bought her at harrogate show. we bought her because she took an instant liking to my wife and knocked the other macaws off the perch to get across the cage to get to my wife and screamed when we walked away. we returned and tried the other side of the cage with the same result. so she had to come home with us and she still behaves the same way and nobody else will do when my wife is in. she also likes the grandchildren and will sit on the floor of the cage when they are playing and tries to join in. she is hand reared and we would not be without her.
