Hi all!

Well! in my last comments in June, I stated that my wife and I had ordered our first Greenwing macaw and were very excited, but faced a 2-3 month wait.
We travelled 200 miles several times to see her.
Well last week, the breeder stated she would finally be ready to come to us on Thursday, and our world was shattered when on the Wednesday night the breeder phoned us to say she had died that morning.

We are awaiting the post mortome results.

The breeder tried to help us locate a replacement, and i finally located one myself which ment enduring another 9 week wait.
Finally on one last attemp, i had the most remarkable luck, i located a lady breeder who had two G/W left and ready to go.
Well we went down the next day (Saturday) and chose one.

He/she is adorable and very friendly and it reminded us so much of
the one that died that we named it Maisey after her.
Still got to get it sexed, but there we go.

Jools

I have a Catalina Macaw his name is Uno. He is my love. I take him everywhere. He loves to be held. He also loves to show off. He spreads his wings and yells look at me I am a pretty boy. If you do not say how pretty he is he will get louder and continue until you pay attention to him. Petting we are working on, he will growl when not in the mood. He just turned 3 years old. I only cage him when I am not home as all my loves. I also have a U2 and a LSC Too. He does prefer females but will go to anyone. The reactions I have from people are wonderful. They want to get all the information they can on theses amazing birds.

PLEASE,PLEASE, PLEASE, for the sake of the life of your bird(s), DO NOT leave them unattended with toys that have small ropes. I came home to find my 1 1/2 year old severe macaw strangled. He fought to break loose and broke his neck. As I find out from other bird owners, it is much too common. May you RIP Snickers.

Hemingway update! He is now 1 yr & 2 months and just as sweet as ever. He loves to have his head and neck scratched. He has bonded well with both (human) parents.

We rescued a 8 year old female green wing who had been relegated to a garage, and subsequently plucked herself mostly bald. Since coming to live with my husband and I, our 3 cats, lab puppy and African Gray, "Frankie" has settled in well. She can be nippy at times, but this gets better every day as she comes to trust us. She is a loud and enthusiastic greeter when we come home, and is picking up words like "kitty" and "Maggie" (puppy's name). She gets off her cage to chase the cats around the house and she "feeds" the puppy on the floor by regurgitating to her. She and our Gray are curious and talk to each other, but she is somewhat aggressive towards him. An overall great addition to the house, and encouragement for people to continue to try to take in birds who need homes.

MY SON WANTED A BIRD BACK IN WINTER AND WE FOUND A YOUNG JENDAY CONURE FOR HIM. MY WIFE THEN DECIDED SHE WOULD LIKE A BIRD AND WE FOUND A SEVERE MACAW AFTER LOOKING AND RESEARCHING WHAT SHE WOULD LIKE. WELL, WE GOT HER HOME AND SHE HAS BONDED WITH ME AND MY OTHER SON! WHAT LUCK! SO LAST WEEK WE FOUND A GREEN WING WHO IS 5 AND A HALF MONTHS OLD! SHE IS SO TAME AND GENTLE AND HAS TAKEN TO MY WIFE QUITE WELL! THANK GOD! SHE IS THE SWEETEST AND EVEN THOUGH SHE IS A LARGE BIRD SHE IS FUN TO HOLD AND WATCH! THESE ARE ALL GREAT BIRDS TO ADD TO ANY FAMILY WE THINK! OUR 2 YEAR OLD TWIN LOVES TO HAVE THE JENDAY "POPCORN" SIT ON HIS ARM WHILE MY WIFE HELPS HIM. "LOLLIPOP" THE SEVERE WILL TRY TO INTIMIDATE OTHERS BUT WILL TALK UP A STORM FOR ME AND MY OTHER SON AND LOVES STEAK. "TULIP" REALLY LIKES THE CRUST FROM PEACH PIE AND HER WHEAT THINS! HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY YOURS AS MUCH AS WE LOVE OURS!

I have a B&G Macaw I got from my brother. he could not keep her in his apartment, she's just too-noisy and the neighbors complained about it. She's constantly screaming and anyone can hear her from quite a long distance. She's very affectionate with me. for some reason she prefers men as opposed to women. She calls me father in spanish (papa) and calls my wife loca with means crazy in spanish. She's very adorable when she wants to be, and quite aggressive for no apparent reason at times as well. Either way she's a great addition to our family

I Just adopted Rebecca, a supposedly female and very neglected B&G. Her dishes were dirty and all I found her with was a lil green slime for water and the scurge of the bird world, those damn sunflower seeds to eat. Her chest feathers where gone and she looked like she had never been groomed. Well, we went from her tryin to kill me last Monday night when I brought her home ( in her cage mind you-forget tryin to get her out and into a carrier) to having her groomed Yesterday (Sat. morning) Now shes a happy camper and a changed bird. She sits with me & doesnt do more than a lil nibble on my (wait let me count em) fingers and seems to be bonding already w/me.I always wanted a bigger bird like this but could never afford one. Have to believe the universe brought us together!!
