I purchased Samson 6 months ago, life will never be the same. He has a mind of his own! Sam has become a full fledged member of this chaotic family that also consists of five kids, an african grey, Umbrella Cockatoo, two cats, & 2 dogs .
He has a massive cage on the deck and really enjoys talking to the neighbors or screaming for help in a high pitched voice when he feels no one is watching his show! When the girls are playing and screaming he has to join in whether they all are outside or inside.
My two warnings to anyone thinking of buying one is that they are extremely messy and loud. The purchase price is just the beginning. They are like a high maintenance spouse. Always costing you for something. Samson eats at the table with us out of his own plate and glass. He is 37.5 inches long and around 4lbs.

I adopted a 16 year old female Severe whose owner had passed away. She took right to me but doesn't want anyone else coming near her or her cage.....she will come after them like a shark. She talks really well and says a lot of different things and likes to be petted. When I cover her cage in the evening, she takes the cover off and plays peek-a-boo until she falls asleep. She really has brought a lot of joy into my life and has quite the personality - not nippy at all. CFULLER

It's now almost 19 months since I brought Maxie my Harlequin Macaw home with me. I love her so much. She's come a long way, I've taught her three tricks and she really talks her head off. Not just mimicking, she actually answers you and speaks appropriatly. I'll look at her loveingly and she says, "What?" Then I'll tell her. "I just love looking at you." To that she'll reply,"OH." My Maxie perches on my forearm and tells me, "I LOVE YOU". I wish that I could show her photo.

Hi, my wife and I have a 7 old named Nelly a.ka. Nellygirl. she is a very sweet and loveable bird that fits in with the family. she is definitely mamas baby. she gets more love than me or our 3 girls. she loves anyone with food, she says words like want some(food), hello, whats up, ooch, un-unhh, step up, and when you wave your hand in the form of hi she says hi. and she can mimic anybody's sound (our kids taught her that). NELLY loves to groom mom and dad all the time. we love her so much that we plan on getting her a mate (she thinks mom is her mate).

My wife, Rebecca, purchased my first B&G for my birthday day. Any one who has really ever known me has known that I wanted a B&G for a very long time. Since this is my first B&G it has been a learning experience. I never knew that they would be such a kick in the pants to own. Jack is now 8 months old and is already talking. He says love you Jack, good night, and he also says my wife's name. He is by far the smartest animal I have ever owned. I started seeing him, at the breeder's, as soon as possible, to earn his trust and bond with him. Jack takes naps with me, and plays like a cat all the time with me and my wife. My wife has taught him to do what we call dead bird. In which he lays on his back in her hand with his head laying down her forearm, and lays there like a dead bird. However dead birds dont squack, which we are working on. Jack is a member of our family. He eats, plays, and goes almost everywhere with us. I would highly recommend B&G's for almost anyone. Soon Jack will be saying Semper Fi and other Marine Corps things. I love my bird and always will.

Hello, my boys name is Chico and he is a Severe for sure. My wife and I love him so and he gets so excited to see us when we get home. He sits with me and we talk and he listens. He is also fearful sometimes, but he is also forgiving and has yet to bite us hard. He hates everyone else so it seems, even his former owner. But we are very happy with him and pray he is with us always. Also, I too have lost birds. Our first Severe from a birth defect we did not know he had, and a Sun Conure who ate a hole in our 4th floor screened in porch. We pray she(her name was Maya) is well and that she has peace. Our prayers to all and may all your birds be well and healthy.

Rich and Emerald

My severe Gabby died in Nov. 2006 from a seizure that caused her glotis to swell shut. Cancer was the cause. Gabby was only two years old. I got her at 6 weeks old she was a wonderful bird. if you have them, love them, because you never no when it will end. Bobby

i have two of these beautiful birds. mine are very smart and loveable. they are great eaters and very active with the family and the rest of the birds i have. we do not breed our birds, they are part off our family and they are all so spoiled. sometimes it is very loud but we seemed to ajust, for they have a right to express their opinions as we do. some people cannot believe i handle 6 macaws, 2 cockatoos, and many more. the ruby macaw is very comical and fun to be with. they have the best diet and many snacks to watch tv with, they even know how to push the buttons on the remote control. so they run the house, we just pay for it...
