Hi, my wife and I have a 7 old named Nelly a.ka. Nellygirl. she is a very sweet and loveable bird that fits in with the family. she is definitely mamas baby. she gets more love than me or our 3 girls. she loves anyone with food, she says words like want some(food), hello, whats up, ooch, un-unhh, step up, and when you wave your hand in the form of hi she says hi. and she can mimic anybody's sound (our kids taught her that). NELLY loves to groom mom and dad all the time. we love her so much that we plan on getting her a mate (she thinks mom is her mate).

My wife, Rebecca, purchased my first B&G for my birthday day. Any one who has really ever known me has known that I wanted a B&G for a very long time. Since this is my first B&G it has been a learning experience. I never knew that they would be such a kick in the pants to own. Jack is now 8 months old and is already talking. He says love you Jack, good night, and he also says my wife's name. He is by far the smartest animal I have ever owned. I started seeing him, at the breeder's, as soon as possible, to earn his trust and bond with him. Jack takes naps with me, and plays like a cat all the time with me and my wife. My wife has taught him to do what we call dead bird. In which he lays on his back in her hand with his head laying down her forearm, and lays there like a dead bird. However dead birds dont squack, which we are working on. Jack is a member of our family. He eats, plays, and goes almost everywhere with us. I would highly recommend B&G's for almost anyone. Soon Jack will be saying Semper Fi and other Marine Corps things. I love my bird and always will.

Hello, my boys name is Chico and he is a Severe for sure. My wife and I love him so and he gets so excited to see us when we get home. He sits with me and we talk and he listens. He is also fearful sometimes, but he is also forgiving and has yet to bite us hard. He hates everyone else so it seems, even his former owner. But we are very happy with him and pray he is with us always. Also, I too have lost birds. Our first Severe from a birth defect we did not know he had, and a Sun Conure who ate a hole in our 4th floor screened in porch. We pray she(her name was Maya) is well and that she has peace. Our prayers to all and may all your birds be well and healthy.

Rich and Emerald

My severe Gabby died in Nov. 2006 from a seizure that caused her glotis to swell shut. Cancer was the cause. Gabby was only two years old. I got her at 6 weeks old she was a wonderful bird. if you have them, love them, because you never no when it will end. Bobby

i have two of these beautiful birds. mine are very smart and loveable. they are great eaters and very active with the family and the rest of the birds i have. we do not breed our birds, they are part off our family and they are all so spoiled. sometimes it is very loud but we seemed to ajust, for they have a right to express their opinions as we do. some people cannot believe i handle 6 macaws, 2 cockatoos, and many more. the ruby macaw is very comical and fun to be with. they have the best diet and many snacks to watch tv with, they even know how to push the buttons on the remote control. so they run the house, we just pay for it...

We have a B&G, 2 year old named Diego. He's great, matter of fact he's sitting on my shoulder right now as I type this. But he is LOUD! He screams so loud if you are eating in front of him that it makes your blood curdle. He's almost always affectionate and talkative. He loves to hug and kiss. He loves to go on walks and is always walking around the house too. He's just like having another kid, only more needy..LOL... I recommend a B&G for anyone who is willing to commit to a pet for quite possibly the rest of your life. Too often though these birds are given up because people are infatuated with the idea and don't know what they are getting themselves into.
Too Love a bird is too Love for Life, remember that.

I have to say reading others posts really warmed my heart. This past Feb. we lost our red-lored amazon during a very cold spell and were absolutely heart-broken. She was not clipped and would love to fly all around the house. We were forced out of the house at about 7 am due to the neighbors in the other side having carbon monoxide problems. Candi was fine til the fire trucks got there, and then was very skittish. On the way back in to the house, she jumped from something and took off. . . we never saw her again though we spent 10and1/2 hours walking in the 5 degree day looking. Though I then was so lost, I now do believe that when the door closes, look for the open window. Six weeks later, my husband and I were offered a "scarlet macaw." Of course we were a little hesitant til we met Hauto. He is truly a green wing who was bought by someone who apparently had more money then sense. The bird was allowed to fly around their house while the child pursued with a baseball bat, or so the story goes. The result. . . a bird with two broken wings that instead of being taken to the vet was put in his cage with one perch in the basement with barely enough food to keep him alive. When he was two he was given to a friend of a friend who couldn't keep him because of a young daughter whose new favorite thing was to stick fingers in the cage. So he was offered to us and after meeting him there was no way not to. For all that he has been through, he is an amazing bird. He is actually a green-wing and after a few showers and a few weeks of a good diet he looks great. the vet gave him a clean bill of health, except for 2 wing that will never heal. He says a few words and continues to learn more. My family is blessed to have him, and we don't need to worry that he will ever fly away.

My name is Paulie, and I am 8 years old. I was found in a basement in a small cage with three other birds. My new owner came to visit me and he felt sorry for me. I made an effort to trust him so I jumped up on his arm without biting him. He decided then he wanted to take me home so he bought me a large cage all of my own to enjoy with toys and everything. I get a bath every morning and I now eat veggies and fruits as well as regular bird food. I live with a Hahns Macaw named George, A Harlequin Macaw named McKala, a sengal named Dusty, and of course the conure named Gandoff. My owner knows that I am a rare find and after the life I had this one makes me feel so at home. I get to see and listen to videos of birds in the wild and my new owner wants to take me outside like he does McKala. Yes he uses a harness. Paulie, is a great bird, I have noticed that like all other comments here he does not like being handled as much as the other birds. But being he was 8 when he came here and not used to being handled I think he is doing great.
