We have a 4 year old Severe Macaw. Her name is Winston! She is named Winston because the breeder told us "she" was a male! Then we suspected she was a female and had her DNA tested and yes, she is a female! She is the funniest bird we have (we have 8 birds, four of them are Macaws). She loves to twist her head around in a figure 8. She talks very well, and seems to know much more than she is willing to say, because she will surprise us constantly with new phrases that we had no idea that she could say! One day we were talking to the other Macaw we have in the same room where she lives. We were saying "I love you" to the other Macaw (a Military). All of a sudden Winston blurted out, "I love you!" loud and clear as a bell! She had never said that before, and she has never said it again!! LOL. She is a riot. She loves to play Peek a Boo and will run right over to play with me when I approach her cage. She is adorable and we love her so much!

I have been owned by a Ruby for over a year, and find the combo of a greenwing dad and a scarlet mom the most wonderful I have encountered. If you want a beautiful loving bird that can have a mean streak (playful and sarcastic) this is the right bird. They are expensive to buy and to keep, but all macaws are. Mine is the most social macaw I have ever encountered and tends to be a "velro bird", so be prepared to spend LOADS of time with this gentle giant.

I got my yellow collar baby last month. He is 10 months old and already can say quite a bit. His favorite thing to say is "step up" and he will. He is very funny and loves to give kisses. I do have to say he is one person bird, he will only come to me.

I am very blessed to share my home with a Blue Throated Macaw. Her name is Kasey and I rescued her from a home in a windowless cement room and a dirty, rusty cage with no toys. She is a delight! But so intelligent. She can take anything apart and she loves to chew. I'm always looking for that perfect Blue Throated toy. She is cuddly, affectionate, and loud. She is a member of our family now and we love her.

I bought my Severe Macaw 25yrs ago. Her name is Lucy. I remember hand feeding her for months and Lucy winds up falling in love with my girlfriend. That wasn't the problem, the problem was she didn't want me around when my girlfriend was over. You would think I tortured the bird the way she would come at me. After marrying my girlfriend, and after two decades, the bird now shows me love. However when my wife enters the room, I make sure the bird is away from my face as I love her, but still don't trust her.

I am the proud owner of one of these majestic birds. Kiki is one year old and he is very loving and sweet. He is an acrobat and a clown. He loves to swing upside down, hanging on by one talon. He is good natured and seldom squawks. I also have an amazon and a conure, as well as two small dogs. They all get along fairly well. Though the bluethroated are hard to come by, this bird is worth the effort.

I've had Benito for 8 years now, raising him from a bald little baby. He lives outside next to the window where he "visits" with me. For the first 6 years, Benny slept indoors on a perch, but never once messed on the floor. Every morning, he comes into my bedroom and sticks his tongue in my ear and says "Edwardo!". He picks up words on his own and has started calling me "Appa". Although I say his name constantly, he has never said his own name. My parrots all say "Benny" though. He definitely changed my life!
