i have one lovebird alone, and it is next to an english budgy in a different cage. The bird is happy, and they do not need a companion because they will be mean to the owner if it has a mate. It bites everyone, but me. so be sure to be nice to it, it will nibble your nose and fingers if you have a successful bond with it. Be sure to never put it near mirrors or fuzzy objects the same size as it. it will fall in love with that and not the owner. ^^

I am so excited because I just got a peach-faced lovebird today. Her name is Mehto and she loves to play around and I get very happy when I start playing with her because she is hand-tamed and hand-fed, so it is really fun to have her around me. I know that a Lovebird is the right pet for me and I will always love Mehto no matter what.

my fischers *three* found the best time chasing each other through wooden cola crate. it hangs up high on a wall. its a keeper, pricey, and ive only used it for displaying tins and things. BIRDTOYS! and yes, they commenced to toss all the whatsits from the squares onto the floor. and there is just enough room for them to squirm through and in and out. FUNNY FUNNIES!

Our lutino, Beaker, was hand raised in 1990. He's very sweet and beautiful. He has been known to chew the edges off an expensive paper lampshade and also the gilt off an antique picture frame! After that, we learned our lesson and keep his wings slightly clipped so he will stay on our shoulder. He goes outside with us, loves the garden dirt, goes nuts for fresh raspberries, and screeches shrilly at other birds. He becomes very agitated if we walk away from him. While in the care of a friend, he watched their female bird shred paper for her nest. Now his favorite pasttime is shredding paper, in cage or out! He also lifts the moveable doors on his cage and lets them smash down. This he does over and over w/o giving up as his signal that he wants to come out. It can become quite annoying!
One thing: the lovebird DOES NEED COMPANIONSHIP!! He will get sick w/o it; we learned this the hard way. He became neurotic and began chewing his back end, pulling out the feathers until he was bald and raw! We had to love him back to health and now make a point of always touching him and letting him out on our shoulder. We wear a towel clipped with a clothespin to keep our shirt clean, and after he has been loved, he nestles in our neck or under our chin. While on our shoulder he eats our human food and takes frequent drinks of water. He loves a water bath and takes one every day with his cool, fresh water.

I have 3 peach faced love birds whose names are: Joey (boy), Jesse (boy) and Melody (girl).I love them so much because they are tame and i can play with them all the time. they are a great pet for anyone who hasn't had birds before. every night i bring them inside so they don't get cold and they are my alarm clock in the morning; they wake me up at about 6.30am!! i love them so much and if anything happened to them i would soooo freak out!!!

I have two peached faced lovebird...Buddy and Holly. I got Buddy first. He was the first bird i ever owned. I have baby snakes too and he was jealous of them, so I bought him a mate(that is where Holly comes in). I hand fed both of them formula for the first two months of their life. Buddy and Holly were caged together from the start. The other day Holly refused her food. Then a few hours later I saw Buddy and Holly at the food bowl...and buddy was teaching her how to eat. Now they are very close and inseperable and live in the office at the zoo i work at. Lovebirds are great.
