Hi every one, I just bought two white doves last week, I ordered two books to read more about them but they are faster then I am, they have laid two eggs but are not setting on them, does this mean there is no babys in those eggs or do they just not have to set on their eggs, confused?

I was given 2 Ringneck Doves last Fall(08) and now I have 7. I can't tell which is male and which is female. I have decided that the males are the ones doing the cooing. BTW one is sitting on another egg now so we soon will be 8.

I have two Indian Ring White Doves that I have had since both were born fifteen years ago this year. They are both female, sisters. Chris and Val. You've got it Columbus Day Birthday and Valentines Day Birthday. They are a joy, cooing and laughing all the time. They thrive on Finch, parakeet seed and millet. They are covered every night and as soon as they hear me in the morning, they make sure I know they too are awake and wish to be uncovered and fed. To me they are the greatest symbol of LOVE and PEACE in the world, and I do believe a special gift from above.

My family has a ring neck dove that is over 20 years old. We had 2 but one died almost 10 years ago. I can't believe the one we have is still alive. I am 21 years old and I know it is older than me. We have always enjoyed it's cueing and that has been a norm at our house.

Just yesterday morning I was given as a gift 2 white doves. Very beautiful doves. To me white doves have always meant love. peace and sacredness.

I have never owned doves before. I am extremely Thankful for this gift.

I am very sad that the commenter about doves bringing rats and so on. This person does not know what he/she is talking about. Sure there would be rats if the people in the house are nasty dirty careless people. This rat problems or rodent infestation I would think would be true no matter if they are doves, or any kind of pet or animal being kept in an apartment or house. If you are a nasty dirty filthy and careless individual you sure will invite these type of problems.

Thanks for all the other excellent comments on here about doves. They really helped me understand my two lovely birds. I have a 8yo girl and a 12yo boy and they have fallen head over heel in love with both birds. My two kids named them Angelina and Angel.

Thank you

I have a ring necked dove that was given to me by my great uncle. Suprisingly enough this bird is now 20 years old. We've never had any problems with him or health wise. He's been a caged bird since we got him and is doing great. So don't be suprised if your dove will live for another 5-10 years.

I have a beautiful white dove that loves to model for the camera in different outfits...especially with sunglasses and hats! Judiah is the name and the best pet I've ever had. Believe it or not...Judiah actually laughs! And sounds like a rooster! Very comical bird and I just love Judiah and glad I went ahead and purchased Judiah for $5 at a garage sale! Judiah is worth a lot more than $5! Best $5 I ever spent. I have no idea how old or what gender Judiah is. Loves to pose for the camera in a dress or football helmet....it doesn't matter to Judiah. Nina Jackson (owner of "Judiah" the white dove) I have made a 2009 12 month calendar of Judiah in a different outfit for each month and had so much fun doing it!

Hi, I need some help, My diamond doves are so sweet, but I don't think they know how to take care of the eggs that they are having. So far it has been four, and it looks as though she drops them from the perch. Most of the time, they have a little hole in there. One was perfect, then about a half hour later, there was an indent/sm hole. I have tried to make them a nest with different things, newpapers, nesting hair, etc. and I tried to put the female one it and nothing helps. Should I just let it go??

Hi, I have a pair of diamond doves too and at first they had the same issue, so I figured it out, mine like to use the large food dish that hooks on the cage and they also like things like mallett and timothy hay for there nesting materials, try tha tand put the nesting materials on the floor of the cage and also some in the big food dish, I buy their big food dish at petsmart, then put the eggs in the dish, put the dish up by the top perch they seem to like it up high, mine never nest on the bottom, mine love this it really works great. Good luck, hope you get healthy happy babies. Feel free to ask me if you need any more help.

These are definitely not particularly mean birds. I have had a couple of them over the last 2 years. The female of my current pair is very laid back. The male is a spaz. He coos and coos and coos and coos. It gets very frustrating in a small room, but despite the occasional annoyance I love them both and will have them until they get old and pass on. They are not the brightest bird species, but they do have an inquisitive nature that will send you laughing. They're easy to care for too.

Just happened upon this site and how wonderful it was to read the nice stories of other white dove owners! I myself have a white female dove and she has my heart under her wing! She is very loving and gentle. She thinks I am her mate as others mentioned. I was quite surprised at one owner saying his bird was 35 yrs. WOW. I have had my Lucybird for about 5 yrs. I got her at 3 days old and she was a joy to raise. Good luck to all of you.
