As I was trimming a bush yesterday I disturbed a pigeon and her nest. It was perched on a top board of a fence. She flew away but came back and is on the nest. Problem is that without any covering over her nest will she and her eggs survive the 100 degree heat coming in the next few days? Should I put bird seed close by so she can eat without getting too far from her nest? Water also? We can see her just out our kitchen window. She looks so worried.

Hi it's Natalie again! 2 summers ago my Dad, my sister, and I were at Custurd time the ice cream shop. I looked in the window of the building next door and saw 2 doves! We walked in and the lady there told us that someone just took home the 2 dove's baby. Well, the next mourning the lady called us. We came to pick up the dove! It turned out the previous owner was annoyed by Flour's cooing and laughing! Now Fluffy will have a friend! I decided to name him Flour! Flour is so sweet but sometimes he gets sassy. I love him and fluffy so much! I'll be bringing them to school for my Java dove report on Thursday!

I purchased a pair of white doves from a pet shop. I raised pigeons all my life and wanted to try something new. I put the pair in a loft with plenty of room. One day on my way home I notice a large flock of wild pigeons with two white pigeons flying with them. Well, some how..... the door to the loft was open and they were my doves. I was surprised to see them flying with the pigeons and double surprise to see them both coming back to the loft.

I found a Zenaida Dove close to my driveway with some of its feathers and skin off and saw some part of its inside body. It was sooooooooooooooooooooo cute! She is at C.R.O.W. now. I named her Kizzy because it means stay put in Mandinka.

I recently got a white dove for Easter and I've noticed that she coos all the time. Is this normal? I'm a little worried that she's lonely or scared by herself, as she was kept in a cage with lots of other doves at the pet shop. Or is this just the normal adjustment to a new house? Thanks!

Yes, it is normal for doves to coo regularly. They actually have a few (I think its about 7) different types of 'coo's' in their language!

There was a dove nest in my front yard, one of the babies was on the ground, what should I do? (put it back to the nest or leave it alone)

Put it back in the nest. We found a nest on the ground with two babies. A cat got at it and shred the nest and just about killed one. We put both babies and nest in a box and wedged into the tree. The mother came back and one baby survived and is now almost full grown and lives in my back yard with it's mom. They have outgrown the box but without it they both would have died. We love seeing them everyday!

hi, I bought a pair of doves that look like a crow but the difference is, its colors are dark green with a yellow at the edge of its wings. Their feet were bigger than the usual pigeon and are color red. The breeder said that it is a seven color chinese dove but I couldn't search it on the internet. I'm thinking that it is not a chinese or chine dove. so, I wonder if you know the breed of my doves. I can send you their pictures so you can see them. thanks a lot.

How long does it usually take for a white dove to adjust to its new home cause im in disbelief that he will be happy?

The bird will feel much more comfortable and trusting in his surroundings, if they are in a corner where two sides are wall. That makes them feel more secure and sheltered.

Hi, I have two pet white doves and my female has layed six eggs. I don't know why she has laid this many in a week and a half time period... does anyone know if this is normal?

Sounds like you might have two females and both are laying the eggs. After all, females don't need a male in order to lay eggs. If this is the case, they will not hatch as they haven't been fertilized.
